In the fifth book of the series, Lizzy has a whole lot on her plate and it only gets heavier as a new serial killer tries to take out those who hurt her in the past while an old face returns to get revenge on Lizzy. All this while she struggles with the possibility of losing the love of her life, Jared.
When we last left Lizzy, she was about to get married to the love of her life but it gets interrupted when the church is shot up and Jared gets shot. This book finds him in a vegetable state and Lizzy is struggling with his family on what they should do. This is a sensitive subject for anyone for obvious reasons.
With Jared being in a comatose state, Lizzy is forced to see what life will be without him and how this will effect. We get to see her change from cool, calm, and collected to falling apart at the seems. By the end of the book, you can hardly recognize her.
Meanwhile, Lizzy, Haley, and Kittaly are trying to solve a number of cases that are being brought to their attention including a serial killer that is going around and killing people that were part of The Ambassador’s club in her high school. This was a nice change of pace getting a female serial killer as we can see what motivates them.
The problem with this story and the high number of cases as that the resolution to the cases were rushed and didn’t really come in full circle or weren’t fully explained. Including the main case that surrounded the serial killer.
The story didn’t have that big cliffhanger ending that the last story but it does leave you wanting more and you know that you are going to get more. Which is A-ok with me.
