Starring: Tom Kenny, Antonio Banderas, Tim Conway, Bill Fagerblake, Rodger Bumpass, Mr. Lawrence, and Clancy Brown
Director: Paul Tibbitt
Rated: PG

In the 2nd full-length Spongebob movie, Spongebob has a new enemy that he must face in Burger Beard as he is able to get his hands on the Krabby Patty formula and must call on an unlikely teammate to try and get it back.

The movie has everything that you would expect to find in a Spongebob film. It has sarcastic moments and some one-liners that some kids may not get. Antonio Banderas stars as the only actor and the pirate in the movie and he plays his role well.

And of course it wouldn’t be Spongebob without a little music. Sadly there is only one song in the movie but it’s a great little number. It’s called “Teamwork” and it’s a duet with Spongebob and Plankton that is reminiscent of “F.U.N. song”. It’s catchy and certainly something that you will find yourself singing along to when you know the words.

It is sad that there is only one song in the movie as songs are a major key to the Spongebob series. Also, the title is a bit of a let down. Considering the trailers and the scenes we’ve seen beforehand it made it seem like most of the movie would be the characters living outside the water. But that is not true. They are only out of the water for maybe 15-20 minutes of the movie. If that. It’s a bit of a let down because it would have been fun to see more of their interaction with the human population.

The movie is a great movie for the whole family to see. Kids will love and so will the parents, especially since a lot of them grew up with Spongebob. It has comedy, drama, and a great message that the kids can take away from the movie.

Rating: B+
