There were three new that came out this weekend and all three of them were able to get into the top five at the box office, with one of them knocking out American Sniper from the top spot.

The new Spongebob movie, Spongebob Sponge Out of Water takes the top spot at the box office bringing an estimated $56 million in its opening weekend. This total is almost twice the total that the first movie made in 2004. A good reason that this could be is that the show is no longer on the air and fans are wanting to get their new Spongebob fix.

American Sniper falls from the top spot for the first time in four weeks with an estimated $24.1 million. The movie should be able to surpass the $300 million mark by the end of the month and make it the highest grossing film that is nominated for an Oscar.

The other two new movies to come out are Jupiter Ascending which took in an estimated $19 million. This movie is going to quickly fade and become a movie that people will forget. Another forgettable movie is The Seventh Son which took in an estimated $7 million in the opening weekend.

Rounding out the top five is Paddington with an estimated $5.3 million.

Next week the worldwide phenomenon Fifty Shades of Grey premieres and will likely hold the top spot at the box office until Insurgent comes out in March.
