There were five new movies to come out this week and two of them were able to challenge Furious 7 for the top spot but they weren’t able to top it.
Furious 7 continues to dominate the top of box office with an estimated $29 million over the weekend. The movie has now surpassed the $1 billion mark worldwide and is going to continue to climb as it tries grab the top box office. It’s still got another billion to go if it wants to top 2009’s Avatar.
The two new movies to come lose to the top spot are Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 with an estimated $24 million and Unfriended with an estimated $16 million. The opening for Paul Blart didn’t premiere quite as high as the first movie but has high hopes for the total box office.
Home is still able to bring in an estimated $10.3 million, finally moving it past it’s $135 million budget.
Rounding out the top five is The Longest Ride with an estimated $6.8 million. The movie continues to under perform at the box office, despite the fans loving the movie.
The other three movies to come out this week are Monkey Kingdom with an estimated $4.7 million, True Story with an estimated $1.9 million, and Child 44 with $600,000 (in a limited release).

There are two movies set to come out this week. Age of Adeline should find it’s way into the top five and Little Boy has a shot, but neither movie will be able to stop Furious 7 from making it four weeks in a row at the top.
