In the last episode, there is a three show crossover with Chicago Fire and Law and Order SVU as they all come together to try and catch a serial killer.
In this week’s episode, titled “There’s my Girl”, the bombing of a trendy café is investigated, and a major blunder lands Atwater in hot water.
A café gets bombed and the police suspect that it’s part of a gang attack. And the fact that the bomb is like the one that was used in Boston raises the level of how serious this attack was (as if it wasn’t serious enough as it was).
Halstead works his charm and magic and is able to get a witness to talk about the bombing and it leads them to a new suspect. It doesn’t take long for Chicago PD to find the bomber (let’s face it, they are REALLY good at their job) but they know that just finding the bomber is not enough. They need the why.
Mouse is the one who is able to crack the case as he figures out that its one of the owners that blew up the restaurant so that he could get life insurance from his wife’s death. Certainly a good way to keep yourself from not being a suspect.
Atwater plays a little good cop with the bomber and it may not be a good decision in the long run. Intelligence only plays bad cop bad cop. The bomber ends up killing himself after being left alone by Atwater. This was a very bad decision considering that he seemed unstable when Dawson was interrogating him.
Platt is angry with her boss and gets to the point where she threatens him. Of course his pride doesn’t like that too much so Platt asks Voight for help. We all know how this is going to play out.
Lindsey struggles with the fact that Nadia is gone, but she’s not the only one. Platt had also gotten close with her and is struggling just as hard. Platt works her boss over to try and honor Nadia but because she wasn’t a ‘cop’ she doesn’t get any recognition.
Lindsey is carrying a heavy burden of guilt as she feels responsible for Nadia’s death.
In the next episode, a man holds a hospital hostage and the only one that can save them is Voight.
