“Pitch Perfect 2” falls to “Tomorrowland” at the holiday weekend box office


There were two new movies to came out this weekend and it was able to top the box office, beating out last week’s number one movie.

The latest Disney movie, Tomorrowland, was able to just edge out Pitch Perfect 2 at the box office with an estimated $32.9 million. This is the second movie to be based on a Disney ride and falls short of what the first one did (Pirates of the Caribbean).

Pitch Perfect 2 continues to do well at the box office bringing an estimated $30.8 million in its second weekend. This moves the movie over the $100 million mark. This is the 9th movie of the year to do so and should continue to do well in the coming weeks, moving up  the yearly chart.


Mad Max falls down to the number three spot and brings in an estimated $24.8 million. The movie should move past the $100 million mark by the end of next weekend and touching it’s budget in the next few weeks.

Rounding out the top five is the other new movie is Poltergeist with an estimated $22.6 million and Age of Ultron with an estimated $21.6 million. This moves Ultron past the $400 million mark.
