“San Andreas” says ’Aloha’ to the movie “Aloha”

There was two movies that came out over the weekend and but only one was able to get into the top five for the box office. And it’s not the one you would have probably guessed.

The latest disaster movie, San Andreas, topped the box office during it’s opening week with an estimated $53.1 million. Disaster movies have been done so many times before but it always seems to draw in a crowd. Well, that in the fact that Dwayne Johnson is starring in it.

Pitch Perfect 2 remains in the number two spot with an estimated $14.3 million over the weekend. The movie is continuing to do well at the box office and should be able to cross over the $200 million mark by the end of it’s run. If it does, it would become the 3rd movie to do that this year.

Tomorrowland drops from the top spot bringing in an estimated $13.8 million over the weekend. The movie is not doing nearly as well as Disney had hoped it would and is a long way away from it’s $190 million budget.

Rounding out the top five is Mad Max with an estimated $13.6 million and The Avengers Age of Ultron with an estimated $10.9 million. The other new movie to come out this week was Aloha with an estimated $10 million despite it’s star-studded cast.

For the rest of the box office, you can go here.

There are three new movies set to come out this weekend with two of them being comedies. Entourage will surely top the box office next weekend, but the other comedy Spy should do well too. Insidious Chapter 3 should make it into the top five, but don’t expect this to make it to the top three.

What movie did you see this weekend?
