There were three big name movies to come out this week and all three had decent openings but only one of them was able to take the top spot.
The new movie from the dynamic duo Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig, Spy Movie, tops the box office bringing in an estimated $30 million over the first weekend. This is the second highest opening for Paul Feig movie, The Heat, which opened at $39 million.
San Andreas falls from the top spot bringing in an estimated #$26.4 million. This is a strong second week for the movie which is knocking on the door of $100 million. It should pass it by the end of next weekend.
The other two new movies to come out this week are Insidious Chapter 3 which opened with an estimated $23 million and Entourage with an estimated $10.4 million. Insidious opened better then the first one ($13 million), but not quite as high as the second one ($40 million).
Rounding out the top five is Mad Max with an estimated $7.9 million.
For the rest of the box office, you can go here.
There is only one movie set to come out but it’s a doozy. It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year and will certainly be dominating the box office for the coming weeks. Jurassic World is going to come out and renew our love in this franchise and spark a whole spew of reboots on Steven Speilberg movies. Movie most likely up next, ET.
