Seven new images of ‘Deadpool’ have been released

It is that time of year when we finally start to get an official look at the highly anticipated Deadpool movie. 20th Century Fox has released seven HD images that were releases at the San Diego Comic Con.

In the images, we get a look at Ryan Reynolds sporting his costume (though he’s been teasing us constantly on his Twitter account) while also getting a first look at the villain Copy Cat, who is played by Morena Baccarin. Most of the comic book movies that we’ve seen so far have had a male as the villain so this is going to be a nice change of pace to see a female villain take the stage.

This movie is going to be the next big thing to come out of Marvel as it’s a little grittier and a definitely a comic book movie made for adults. While it hasn’t  been rated yet, it’s expected to be rated R. This is something different for Marvel that has strictly stayed in the PG-13 range so that fans of all ages can watch. But if you have read the comic book or played the popular video game, the language and nature of the comic book is not really suitable for kids. This could bode well for Marvel as the last movie they did that was rated R was The Punisher, and that movie is a favorite for a lot of fans.

This is not the first comic book movie that Ryan Reynolds has been a part of. Actually it’s his fourth time appearing in a comic book movie. He has appeared in 2004 he did Blade Trinity, 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and 2011’s Green Lantern. It was in Wolverine that Reynolds fell in love with the character of Wade Wilson aka Deadpool and worked to get his own movie for the character. It was certainly a match made in heaven.

The first trailer was shown at the San Diego Comic Con but has yet to be officially released. Of course, that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t leaked online and can’t be viewed. The leaked version is blurry and out of focus, but it will hold you over until the official trailer is released (which should be sometime soon).

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, TJ Miller, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein and is set to come out February 12th, 2016.

What did you think of the images?
