Looks like Gotham is going to be getting some new faces to help clean up the streets from the villains that threaten to take over.
Michael Chiklis joins the cast as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, according to TVLine. The producers of the show stated that the character of Barnes is, “law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies – on either side of the law.” This is the kind of thing that we’ve been seeing from Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie) from last season. They will likely team up to try and take down Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) as they continue their rise to power.
Gotham recently had a panel at the San Diego Comic Con where they revealed what we are expected to see in Season 2. McKenzie hinted at the rise of villains and heros when he said, “As the villains rise, there’s an arms race, and the good guys have to increase their force as well.” The casting of Barnes fit’s into that idea.
Michael Chiklis is no stranger to TV or to the comic book world. He starred on the hit show The Shield for six seasons and in 2004 and 2007 as The Thing in the first two Fantastic Four films. He recently starred in American Horror Story: Freak Show and did a couple of episodes of Sons of Anarchy in 2014 to 2015.
Season 2 of Gotham is set to premiere Monday September 25th at 8/7c on Fox.
