There were three movies that were battling it out for the top spot at the box office over the weekend. Two of those movies were Halloween-themed movies and were expected to do well because the holiday is just around the corner. One of them was able to top the movie but the other didn’t fare so well.
The newly adapted movie of a fan favorite of a timeless classic, Goosebumps, did well at the box office bringing in $23.5 million it’s opening weekend. The movie is expected to do well not just with the younger generation, but the young adult generation as well considering they read the books when they were kids. The movie did well with the reviewers as it has a 72% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes so it should be good for the rest of the month of October.
The Martian almost beat out Goosebumps with $21.5 million. The movie has continued to do well as it’s now looking to get to that $200 million mark. The movie is continuing to do well and should continue to do so as next month the nominees for the Oscars is going to heat up.
The other two new movies to come out are Bridge of Spies with $15.3 million and Crimson Peak with $12.8 million. Hotel Transylvania 2 clutches the number five spot with $12.2 million. These movies are expected to do well but will have some competition for the fans who are looking for a Halloween-esque movie for the end of the month. For the rest of the box office, you can go here.
