Four movies flop as ‘The Martian’ returns to the top of the box office

Matt Damon portrays an astronaut who faces seemingly insurmountable odds as he tries to find a way to subsist on a hostile planet.

There were four movies that were set to come out this week but none of them were able to meet expectations. It was a surprise for everyone who would have thought that with the holiday right around the corner, the top five would be filled with themed movies for Halloween.

The Martian returns back to the number one spot with an estimated $15.9 million. The success that the movie is getting at the box office is going to increase its chances at doing well when the award season comes in January and February. The movie is closing in on the $200 million mark and has a chance to get there before the end of its run.

Goosebumps just misses the top spot with an estimated $15.5 million. Goosebumps leads the Halloween-themed movies but is a favorite amongst those who were fans of the books. The movie has a chance to get to the $100 million mark before the end of the run as it’s half way there now.
