In the last episode, Clary continues to look for her mother while she finds out that Valentine may be the one who took her. Clary got to meet the Silent Brothers and in doing that she learned that Valentine is her father. But the biggest shock is that Simon gets kidnapped for the cup. In this week’s episode, titled ‘Dead Man’s Party’, the shadowhunters come up with a plan to try and save Simon while Luke continues to try and find Valentine.
Clary quickly sees that there is a lot more to the story and no matter what she does someone is going to get hurt. She demands that they help her despite their better judgement. Clary continues to place the blame on herself, even though really, there is no one really at fault. Troubles of the typical 18-year-old. And it only gets more complicated when her feelings for Jace grow.
Simon continues to see that the whole Shadowhunter world may be more complicated than even he thought. Of course, he tries to talk his way out of it, but he is in a world that no amount of talking can help. Camille seems intrigued by Simon even though he’s just a pawn in their game. And him falling under her charm doesn’t make him seem like the damsel in distress anymore. Wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t want to be saved at all.
The tension between Alec and Jace and Isabelle increases in this show as they argue over Clary being there and bringing Simon into the mix. But they all come together and do what needs to be done in order to save Simon, that means using their assets to do that. Hodge is concerned about Alec falling victim to the same mistakes that he did (if you read the book, you know what this means).
Finally, it comes time for the Shadowhunters to make their move to save Simon. Alec and Isabelle play the distraction while Clary and Jace go in and try and save him. Clary learns on the spot and had her first kill. They get to him with no problem as Raphael lets him go with a haunting message to Jace ‘Remember who your friends are’. And if you saw the last scene where Simon stares at Clary’s vein, you know exactly why.
In the next episode, Simon tries to figure out what is happening to him while Clary continues to try and get back her memories.
