In this new novella series by J Kenner we get to see what happened with Damien and Nikki after they got married and before we see them again in Sylvia’s series. Of course things don’t always go according to plan and they will see if love can really conquer all.

The novellas were the perfect addition to the series as we get all the things that we love from the series and more. We get to see Nikki finally come to terms with her relationship with her mother as she finally is able to see the toxicity of their relationship. I loved how she handles it on her own and not let the hero take control (as it usually happens in romance novels). Nikki may be the damsel in distress at times, but she can still save herself when it counts.

We get to see a new side of Damien. We get to see him relax a little bit of his control as he really lets Nikki in and proves that while he may be the dominant it is him that’s the damsel in distress without Nikki. It’s a hard way to make Damien remain that domineering man who we all love and them make him have layers of weakness that get stronger with his love for Nikki.

I really enjoyed this novella and was glad that it enhanced the series instead of took away from it. Sometimes when novellas come out, they can be a waste and don’t offer anything for the series. It makes me think that it was done for the money. This one was made to make me think that Kenner really loves this series and wants the fans to see that they get their happy ever after.
