‘Shadowhunters’ 1×8 – Simon goes through his transformation

shadowhunters 1_8

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Bad Blood’, Alec and Clary have some hard decisions to make while Simon becomes a whole new being. Alec and Isabelle are trying to be the people that their parents want them to be, but it gets complicated the more time that they spend with Jace and Clary. It’s hard to envy Clary this week as she has to basically decide how Simon is going to die: in torture underground, a human death, or as a vampire. One of my favorite scenes is the one that came right from the book. Jace’s story about him and the falcon. While on the surface, it means nothing big, but when you get further into the series, you will see the importance.

Valentine learns that Clary has the cup and is now going full-court press in order to find it. He starts with attacking Luke and his new werewolf gang with his right hand man and people who look like vampires. The Clave finds out that he’s out and trying to find it and insert their help, though reluctantly by everyone else, and try to solve the question of where he is. Things get complicated when Alec learns that his parents were once a part of the Circle with Valentine.

In good news, if you want to call it that, Raphael takes control of the vampires of New York. He helps Clary and Jace with Simon. This is good news for The Shadowhunters, for at least a little while as he can hopefully keep the vampires out of trouble with the Clave. Simon wakes up reborn as a vampire but he’s not the same person that he was before.

In the next episode, Simon adjusts to life as a vampire, while the Shadowhunters prepare for war against Valentine.
