In the first book of a new series, we follow a mother and her journey to find her kids after they were kidnapped the same day that her husband was brutally murdered in front of her. She becomes obsessed with the idea and it proves that there is nothing stronger than the bond between a mother and his child.

If you have read the last book series, The Lizzy Gardner series, then you know that Ragan loves to write about a strong female character who fights against a system that can’t be beat. She knows that the odds are against her but that doesn’t stop her from trying to save her kids.

What makes the book so intriguing is the back and forth between both sides of the story. We get to see what Faith is doing to find her kids but what is going on with her kids. There are times when it’s bit hard to read, but it’s a real issue that is going on in the world today. Human trafficking, especially with kids, is slowly starting to take over the world and it’s never ending.

The story grabs you right from the beginning and doesn’t let you go. Yes there are times when Ragan will talk about things that you think have nothing to do with the story, trust that it does. She likes to include information randomly into the story and sometimes it doesn’t make any sense until you get to the end and you you’re like ‘oh that’s why she mentioned that’. I love the kinds of stories that keep you guessing and has twists that are hard to predict.

When I first read the description of the book, I thought, ‘wow this book is a lot like Taken’. I loved that movie and I love that we get to see, shall we say, a more realistic version of something like this happening. Yes there are times it’s a bit out there, but in a general sense, it is more realistic.

The ending is a bit heartbreaking, as was expected because it’s a series. There is no set amount of books that are going to be in this series, but we do know that it’s going to be a roller coaster ride as this series will go through all the struggles of finding someone on the world of human trafficking.

This is a great start to a new series and it’s going to be interesting to see the lengths that Faith will go through to take down human traffickers.

Rating: B+
