Jack the Ripper is one of the most infamous characters to ever take place in history. During his reign in London, he killed countless women and men and did it without ever being caught. He is one of the most notorious serial killers because his crimes were so grotesque and disturbing that it’s hard to stomach.
The game takes place 20 years after the events of the main game. Jacob is helping the police try and find the man who is going around killing people and he finds a link to someone from his past. Jack can’t have loose ends so he makes sure to cut out Jacob while trying to lure Evie so he can do the same. Evie has to race against time to try and take out Jack before he takes her out.
You play as Evie in this DLC and you get some new weapons with it. Two of the new features are fear induced-weapons. The first one is a smoke/fire bomb that scares people into thinking it’s Jack and the other is a spike that is also Jack’s choice of weapon.
What is intriguing about this DLC is that not only do you play the good guy, but also the bad guy. A few times throughout the storyline you play Jack as he tries to clean up his track and not leave any evidence for Evie to find. Using the detective skills that you learned if you got the Murder Mystery DLC to try and find Jack and solve who he is and why he is doing what he is doing.
Like the Kenway trilogy, we dive into real historical facts. While their definition of what happened is fictional, there are parts that are fact, like his reign of terror and a possible explanation to why he started murdering people. Of course, there is no 100% proof, but if you have studied Jack’s reign, there are many theories to try and explain why. Because that’s always the biggest question when it comes to a string of killings. Why did they do it?
This game is perhaps the most graphic and deadliest of all the Assassin’s Creed games. It starts right off with Jacob and Jack in a very bloody battle that is stretching that M rating to the max. It was a bit surprising at first, but it shouldn’t really be considering who the game is about. I did enjoy diving into historical events because that’s what made me fall in love with the series in the first place.
While it’s not necessary to finish Syndicate to play this DLC, it’s advised that you reach at least level 10 in your character. It will make it a lot easier for you to beat the game. This is a great add on to the series and it really shows the type of games that they can make for the future.
