It’s not very often where I sit back and wonder how an author comes up with a story. Sure I would like to hear if they are willing to tell, but generally no.

That is not the case with Pepper Winters and this story. I want to know what in her ever-loving mind made her come up with this story. There are so many things that happen in this story and I wonder what made her think of it. What made her think of that kind of torture? What made her think of that kind of pain?

Yes, I know. It does happen. I am not naïve enough to know that there are not true evils in the world, but it takes creativity to bring it to the page. And that is exactly what she did here.

For the story itself. It was ok. Not the most entertaining story or one that you can find yourself (I certainly hope that is the case) but it does have a ‘what is she going to do next?’ factor that kept me wanting to see what is going to happen next.

You have to power through the beginning. It’s tough (not because it’s graphic) but because we just hear about how Tess wasn’t fully satisfied with her relationship with her boyfriend Brax and how she wanted to dabble in BDSM. Talk about major foreshadowing.

Of course, the in between of her getting to Q and the stuff that happened when she was there are horrific that I couldn’t even talk about if you read the book. While I knew that it was going to be more of a romance (like Fifty Shades) rather than a graphic fiction (like Pennies by her ironically) so you knew that she would fall for her master.

There is a lot to come in this series and I am intrigued enough to see where she will take us as we take on a world of sex trafficking and how ugly the world can really be.

Pepper Winters

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.

She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
