Luc learns what’s most important in life in ‘Lucas’ by Sawyer Bennett

Lucas (Cold Fury, Book #8)

Sawyer Bennett

Release Date: September 19, 2017

The Carolina Cold Fury hockey team is stacked with hotshots. But when a new player joins their ranks, he learns that even superstars can’t go it alone when it comes to love. Lucas Fournier is only serious about one thing: hockey. The league’s fun-loving charmer, Luc is always up for a good prank or a great lay, and he has no intention of settling down.

But being traded to the Carolina Cold Fury—and to play alongside his big brother, Max—is no joke. With another title in sight, the last thing Luc wants is to let his new teammates down. To succeed, Luc will need to keep his head in

the game and the most . . . er, demanding member of his anatomy in check. But when temptation hits, Luc hits back harder. Museum curator Stephanie Frazier has always put business before pleasure, which just about explains her nonexistent sex life. But when Stephanie meets Luc at a champagne-fueled gala, she finds herself flirting like crazy —and going home with the uninhibited athlete. For one night, she learns what passion is all about. She just never counted on the little surprise Luc leaves behind. And that’s when things really start to get . . . interesting.

Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.

**Some spoilers in the review**

Lucas is loving the life of being a famous hockey player and playing on the Stanley Cup winning team with his brother Max. He knows that marriage and a family is somewhere down the road, but it surprises him when it happens when he least expects it.

Stephanie knows what she wants in her life and isn’t afraid to go after it. She detaches herself from anything and anyone that can cause her pain, but Lucas breaks down her Fort Knox walls and invokes emotions in her that she’s never felt before.

I love the love stories that Sawyer Bennett writes. I don’t know how she is able to make each one different in its own, but have similarities between the characters in a series that you can feel the connection between them. Every time I dive into this series, I feel like I am jumping back into the world with friends I have known for so long and catching up on stuff that’s happened in the last year.

Lucas and Stephanie’s romance is steaming and kinky at times and when they get together fireworks explode. Unlike some of the other books, there isn’t as many ‘romance’ scenes with the two of them (which I am a little sad to see) but we got to see the transformation that Stephanie goes through with her relationship with Lucas. Lucas in his own regard has to step up and be a man that Stephanie needs even if he’s not ready for it. As the say goes, anyone can make a child, but it takes a real man to be a father.

The series is far from over. There are still at least 2 more books planned and who knows what will happen next. The story sets up the next story Van and you can predict what it’s going to circle around. And for me, I can’t wait for that story.

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
