Get ready for the darker and dirtier side of New Orleans with a brand new alpha romance from USA Today bestselling author Meghan March.
New Orleans belongs to me.
You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t.
My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met.
I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.
To have her in my debt.
She doesn’t know she caught my attention.
She should’ve been more careful.
I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her.
It’s time to collect what I’m owed.
Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.
*Ruthless King is book one of the Mount Trilogy*
Darkness my old friend. It’s nice to meet you again. Mount is not a man who doesn’t hear the word no from no one. So of course when he finally meets someone who tells him no, he is intrigued.
Enter into a battle of wills.
Keira will do anything to save her company, even make a deal with the devil himself. She knows that she shouldn’t want him but how can she not when he sparks a fire inside of her that she didn’t even know existed.
The back and forth between these characters is intense and gripping and you want to know how far she will go before she is able to make him snap. We have met Mount before in March’s Beneath series so we already have a baseline for how ruthless he can be. The fact that Keira can get under his skin is intriguing and you wonder who will break first.
What I love most about this story, and all of March’s works in general, is while Mount has demons that far surpass anything we can expect, you know that there is some kind of human in him. He is possessive over Keira and there is something dark that is driving him. I pray and hope that we get to dive deeper into his mind and see how he got to his rise of power.
And holy mother of cliffhangers. This one is a doozy. Certainly one of those cliffhangers that you may be able to predict but doesn’t stop you from going OMG all the same. It sets up the next book for an explosive beginning because you know that it’s going to change Mount in a way that I don’t even think he is ready for.
This book dives more into the dark realm. It mirrors some of my favorite authors and their touches of dark. There is copious consent in this story so if you don’t like that kind of love story, then I would avoid reading this story. But if you are willing to go into the dark side of grey, then strap yourself in for this roller coaster ride.
Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had.
