When life brings you the perfect person at the worst possible time…
On a weekend visit to Las Vegas to visit his brother, Marine Braeden Daniels meets a woman who challenges him in ways he can’t deny. The best part is she wants what he wants.
No strings. No feelings. Just fun.
AJ is a Las Vegas performer who is finally living her dream. Growing up poor, she’s determined to succeed at any cost. No one will stand in her way—not even a hot Marine who breezes into her life all confidence and a cocky smile.
A few stolen weekends and neither can deny the feelings quickly growing between them. But the obstacles that keep them apart become more devastating when the Marine Corps calls Braeden away for a six-month deployment.
It’s only six months.
What could possibly happen?
I have followed this series ever since it came out. I like to say I loved the series before it blew up. Jb Salsbury was one of those authors that made me adore indie authors and to search for more which led me to find some of my favorite books. This series included. I have read and listened to all these books multiple times and I fall in love with each character with each book.
Now on to the bitter end. Note that it’s ‘bitter’ because I am bitter that it’s ending not because the story is. In fact it’s a beautiful story that made me wonder if there is someone else in this series that I like more then Blake. And that is saying a lot.
Braeden didn’t want to fall for one woman like his brother did but that all goes out the window when he meets gymnast AJ. She enraptures not only his mind but his body and soul as well. He knows that his military life is a rough one to live with but like most alpha males who meet their woman, he can’t let her go.
AJ wants to make a life for herself by herself. In a lot of ways I can relate to her. She is stuck in her life and just wants to get to that end result. Braeden challenges everything that she wants and when he comes back to her a different man, she changes the woman that she is so that she can help Braeden become the man he needs to be.
There is another guy, because it wouldn’t be an epic love story without someone to try and ruin it, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. At first I thought he was gonna be the ‘big’ conflict for the story and that he was gonna be a bad guy, but he wasn’t. In fact he was very nice and sweet and I felt bad for him because he really didn’t have a shot.
There are some sensitive subjects in the story that involve war and how it can change the men and women who fight in it. This was something that she hadn’t done before and I loved what Salsbury did with it. She showed how brutal and cruel war can be and how it doesn’t end when the soldiers come home. This is a lesson we can still learn today.
While this story may be the last planned story for this series, Salsbury has completely ruled out the possibility of scenes/chapters being released. While it may not fully appease the full length fix we get, it can keep our addiction at bay.
