This wasn’t
supposed to happen.
But it did.
This wasn’t
supposed to be my life.
But it was.
I was just a typical
girl, living a typical life. Nothing was out of the ordinary until tragedy
threw me into a turnstile I couldn’t see my way out of. That was, until him.
I never could’ve
imagined my heart falling the way it did. Hard, fast, and with unbounding beauty.
The only problem?
He was off limits.
Forbidden.
But he became my
everything, and I became his, so we risked it all. It was only a matter of time
until I realized that our risk came with unimaginable consequences.
My name is Camellia
Hale and his is David Andrews, and this is our love story.

Review

This story is has everything that you could want in a story. Romance, drama, espionage, and just a wee bit of comedy. It’s the drama of Sarah trying to figure out how to save her company from going bankrupt while not dying in the process.

It is in a lot of ways like the movie The Bodyguard. Tom is assigned to keep Sarah safe from the evils that her family has put her in. He knows that he should stay away. But who wants to stay away from something that makes your life better? And also, it’s the forbidden kind of love that makes the best kinds of romance stories. It gives you something to root for.

Like the other books that I have read from RJ Prescott, there were some paragraphs that ran a little long. Though I will say that this one is a lot better than the last series I read. This one only had a few times where the paragraph took up a whole page. A little spacing out would have been helpful with the flow but since it was only a few times, it didn’t deter from my experience too much.

The story has a lot of ups, downs, and twists and turns as Sarah and Tom try to figure out who is trying to take her out and stop them before she dies. I love the back and forth that Sarah and Tom have and I especially like seeing the rough exterior of Tom soften when he falls for Sarah. The only thing that I didn’t like about their love story is that it happened essentially overnight. One chapter there is tension of them trying to get together and the next they are already jumping into bed together (so to speak).

It’s a good story and one that I enjoyed but I don’t know if has that re-reading quality about it. But who knows? Things could change as time passes.
