Where to begin with this story. The story is different then the other stories by JB Salsbury but that is a very good thing. She touches on some very real things in this world and I like that while it’s things that have been done before, it was a different take. Salsbury takes these things and elevates them to a whole new level. The story is gritty and raw that you feel like you are right there alongside them.

Mercy comes into her own in this story. She is finally free of the chains from her past but it comes at a cost for Milo. Milo on the other hand, annoys me on so many levels until the end. Yes I get he does what he does to protect her but I didn’t like that he seemed to forget about Mercy and her feelings. On the flip side, it’s that struggle for Mercy that made me like her more. The fight for not only her freedom but the right to make her own choices.

This is the final book of the duet and it does have a final feeling to it. There are some questions that are left unanswered but nothing to important. We get to see where Milo comes from and how he got to where he was before Mercy. The world that Salsbury depicts is dark and merciless which explains a lot about Milo and the choices he’s made for Mercy.
