London, 2019.  Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? And can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

Get darker in first ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ trailer

The wait is over. The first look at the second movie in the NY Times Best-Selling series by EL James, Fifty Shades Darker is here. In the trailer, which can be seen below, we see Christian (Jamie Dornan) trying to win Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) back. After he succeeds, we see that there is more to his past then she thinks as things get a little ‘darker’ for her.

The last movie ended with Christian taking things a little too far with Anastasia and her walking out on him. In this movie, Christian lets Anastasia in but it comes at a high risk as the ghosts from his past threaten everything that they are trying to build.

Obviously there are going to love scenes in this movie. I mean, you read the book. And the fact that the first director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, lost the job for the rest of the series because there wasn’t enough love scenes. Though, the fact that there was a rift between her and the author may have helped as well. The new director, James Foley, seems to pick up where Taylor-Johnson left off which is a sigh of relief. It happens when directors change that sometimes there is a rift in the exchange, but it looks like that won’t be the case in this movie.

The first movie didn’t fare well with Rotten Tomatoes, but did well at the box office bringing in $571 million worldwide. This set the bar high and was one of two movies with female directors (the other being Elizabeth Banks with Pitch Perfect 2) in 2015 that proved that woman can in fact direct successful movies.

Fifty Shades Darker is set to come out Valentine’s Day 2017 with the final movie Fifty Shades Freed coming out Valentine’s Day 2018.

Mr. Grey will see you now

Ever wanted to know what Christian was thinking when he first met Ana? Or the first time they spent the night together? Or the first time they went into the ‘Playroom’?

Well, you will get your chance.

A few hours ago, author EL James, announced on her social media that she is going to be releasing the first book in her trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey, from Christian’s point of view. The title is going to be simply ‘Grey’.

She didn’t state whether she will do this with the entire series, or just the first book. But that is still something to rejoice if you are a fan of the book.

There are no pre-order links available yet but the book is set to come out June 18th which is perfect because that is Christian Grey’s birthday.

In February, Fifty Shades of Grey was adapted to the big screen and did well at the box office, bringing in a total of $569.6 million worldwide. A few days ago, rumors circulated that Henry Cavill, Charlize Theron, and Cara Delevigne have joined the cast for the second film. The next two installments are set to come out Valentine’s Day 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Jamie Dornan releases statement about rumors of his role in “Fifty Shades of Grey”

There has been a whirlwind of rumors circling Jamie Dornan and the fact that he is leaving the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise because of his wife. This all stemmed from an Austrailian magazine stating that in one of their articles.

Earlier today, a representative for Jamie Dornan released a statement to ABC News about the rumors saying, “Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film.”

In just two weeks, the movie has made over $400 million worldwide and continues to set records, despite the low ratings that it’s getting (only 25% approval on Rotten Tomatoes).

It’s only a matter of time before Focus Studios announces the sequels. Sources say that they are waiting to settle a deal with EL James about writing the sequels and the topic of finding a new director.

Fans of the series can relax. Christian Grey is here to stay.

Jamie Dornan to leave “Fifty Shades”?

Reports are going crazy on the internet stating that Jamie Dornan aka Christian Grey will not be returning for the Fifty Shades sequels.

An Australian magazine is reporting that Dornan is bowing out because of his wife, Amelia. But further speculation makes it seems like he’s just seeing this as out.

It’s a lot of mixed quotes that are being thrown around because Dornan talked about coming back during interviews and that his wife told him to take the role.

What has changed?

Maybe it’s his costar Dakota Johnson (who played Anastasia Steele).

There are claims that Dornan and Johnson didn’t get along on set and that he blames her for the critics slamming him. The magazine states, “He says Dakota gave him nothing to work with.”

In interviews they seem to get along and also the behind the scenes so maybe it was all just a ploy. But he did say that he found some of the sex scenes “uncomfortable”. Considering the type of scenes that were shot, that is not completely surprising.

Fans have been blowing up Twitter and other social medias not wanting Dornan to go. Including the Twitter account Fifty Shades Updates stating that he hasn’t dropped out and it’s just rumors.

This is coming on the heels of the drama over director Sam Johnson Taylor quitting because she and author EL James fought over creative control over the first movie.

As it stands now, fifty shades of grey has made over $350 million at the box office in just 2 and half weeks, despite the low ratings. Yes the reviews might not be high but the box office is and that should be what the focus is on.

Universal Studios has yet to comment on this so nothing is 100% yet. Perhaps Dornan did ask out but until Universal or him himself makes a statement, fans can hold out the chance all this is just rumors.

“Fifty Shades” dominates Valentine’s Day box office

fifty shades 3

It comes as no surprise that the first book in the NY Times best selling Fifty Shades trilogy by EL James, Fifty Shades of Grey, is the number one movie Valentine’s Day weekend.

But the movie did not just top the box office. Oh no. With the estimated $81 million opening weekend it had, it allowed director Sam Taylor-Johnson to have the biggest opening for a female director beating out Twilight‘s Catherine Hardwicke at $69 million.

The movie not only did well here in America but in foreign box office bringing in an estimated $158 million giving the total opening box office to $239.6 million. Not bad for a bunch of up and comers.

The other new movie. Kingsmen: Secret Service, also did well in its first week bringing in an estimated $35.6 million. The movie was a favorite to those who completely were turned off  of Grey.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water falls from the top spot but still does well bringing in an estimated $30.5 million. The movie should cross the $100 million mark by the end of the week.

Rounding out the top five is American Sniper with an estimated $16.4 million and Jupiter Ascending with an estimated $9.4 million.

For the rest of the box office, you can go here.

Fifty should remain on at the top for a few weeks not getting any big competition until Insurgent comes out at the end of March.

Review – “Fifty Shades of Grey” – a fluff movie that you won’t regret watching

In the first book of the worldwide phenomenon written by EL James we find Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) as she meets billionaire tycoon Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and begins an illicit affair with him but it comes with a catch. He’s not the typical knight in shiny armor as he has darkness in him that comes out in the form of BDSM.

When this book came out, it took the world by storm and changed countless relationships because of it. Girls were falling in love with Christian and wanting him to be their boyfriend. When news was released that we would be getting to see this book unfold on the screen, fans went crazy with anticipation.

And the movie didn’t disappoint.

It’s hard to begin a review for this movie without pointing out the two main characters first. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan were relatively unknown actors in the business, where Johnson is known because of her famous parents and Doran is know for his role as The Huntman on Once Upon A Time on ABC, so you got two actors know that this is going to be the role that changes their lives, for good and bad who knows.

The movie series could very well end up like how the Twilight series ended up for their stars, but this movie was able to dive deeper in to the story that was overshadowed in the first book.

Ok. Let’s start with the downfalls or what I like to call ‘the things fans of the book will nitpick about’.

First off, Jamie Dornan’s appearance as Christian. His torso specifically. His body is supposed to be covered in various scars including a number of cigarette burns and also chest hair. He had little to none on either account. The number of scars will bother those who liked the story more and the chest hair will bother the fans of Christian Grey more. Also, fans are having a hard time seeing him as this broken soul. He didn’t obsess over Ana eating food (like he does in the book) and you don’t get that feeling of him being broken.

That’s what other fans thing. This fan believes he was great. Yes, there are some things that need tweaking which I think will be done in the next two movies. But overall, he captured what I had pictured as Christian Grey. His smirks, the way he looks at Ana, the physical he struggle he has around her. All good. My only issue (and many fans probably won’t notice) is that I could sometimes hear his Irish accent. But the good news is you probably won’t notice if you aren’t looking for it.

Without a doubt the best part of the movie is Ana. She captures that essence of the character to a tee and would be hard pressed to find an actress who could have pulled it off like she did. She is funny, smart, and is able to really bring Ana Steele to life. It’s the little things that she does that really make her perfect like the facial expressions and her nervous demeanor when she’s around Christian. And the best part is, they did this without making Ana sound like she’s 12 yaers old. This is an issue I personally had with the book. She’s this smart and intelligent young woman but the book sometimes made her sound like a teenager the way she talked about her ‘inner goddess’. The movie Ana was mature, but naïve at the same time. The way that she should be.

Now for the scenes that everyone wants to talk about. Yes there are some BDSM scenes in the movie, and some of them might make you blush, but it’s nowhere near as graphic as it was in the book. Director, Sam Taylor-Johnson did an amazing job at showing that side of their relationship while keeping it so that it can be rated R and not NC-17. She focused more on the romance and the relationship and less on the sex part and for me, that’s exactly what I wanted.

Fifty Shades is a ‘fluff’ movie where it’s not going to be that blockbuster kind of movie like The Avengers but it’s got enough hart that will keep you wanting more. If you go in thinking that, then you will come out feel satisfied.
