The cover ‘Royally Endowed’ by Emma Chase has Logan ready for duty

Logan St. James is a smoldering, sexy beast. Sure, he can be a little broody at times—but Ellie Hammond’s willing to overlook that. Because, have you seen him??

Sexy. As. Hell.

And Ellie’s perky enough for both of them.

For years, she’s had a crush on the intense, protective royal security guard—but she doesn’t think he ever saw her, not really.

To Logan, Ellie was just part of the job—a relative of the royal family he’d sworn to protect. Now, at 22 years old and fresh out of college, she’s determined to put aside her X-rated dreams of pat-downs and pillow talk, and find a real life happily ever after.

The Queen of Wessco encourages Ellie to follow in her sister’s footsteps and settle down with a prince of her own. Or a duke, a marquis…a viscount would also do nicely.

But in the pursuit of a fairy tale ending, Ellie learns that the sweetest crushes can be the hardest to let go.
***
Logan St. James grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, in a family on the wrong side of the law. But these days, he covers his tattoos and scars with a respectable suit. He’s handsome, loyal, brave, skilled with his hands and…other body parts.

Any woman would be proud to bring him home to her family.

But there’s only one woman he wants.

For years he’s watched over her, protected her, held her hair back when she was sick, taught her how to throw a punch, and spot a liar.

He dreams of her. Would lay down his life for her.

But beautiful Ellie Hammond’s off-limits.

Everybody knows the bodyguard rules: Never lose focus, never let them out of your sight, and never, ever fall in love.

Review

We often think that the grass is greener on the other side and that having money and influence means that we have an easy life. As we see the second brother from the Pembrook family try to adjust to having the crown on his head after his brother Nicholas forfeited the crown (spoiler alert if you didn’t read the first book yet which I mean who does that). It’s a heavy crown and it gets heavier as he continues to let his grandmother, the queen, down.

So what does one do to solve that problem?

Go on a reality show to ‘try and find a queen’.

Like I’m sure we all know ‘reality’ shows aren’t really ‘reality’. Henry plays along with what the producer wants until he finds a complication. In the name of Sarah Titebottum. She is cry, conservative, clever, and innocent. What could be more appealing to the bad boy prince right? He doesn’t know how or why, but she works her way into his life and makes him actually start believing that maybe he can actually be king.

On the surface, Sarah just looks like a shy, book nerd who believes in fairy tales from the books and is a little naïve when it comes to reality. Until we find out the kind of reality that she grew up with. Once that comes out, you fully understand Sarah’s character and like Henry you just want her to be happy. We all have our demons that we need to fight, but Sarah’s run deep and with the help of Henry, she is able to finally face those demons and become a strong woman.

Henry is deep in his brother’s shadow and we get to see just hard long that shadow is. With the help of his brother Nicholas and Sarah he is able to step out of that shadow and become the man that he was always meant to be. I loved watching the slow transformation as he realizes what his worth is and that while he may make mistakes, it doesn’t define who he is.

From Emma Chase’s other books, you know that she knows how to write an entertaining love story. This story dabbles more into the ugliness of the world and I love that we get to see that mix of light and dark. Emma Chase’s books are some of my favorite reads because they are refreshing look at romance and are funny and relatable. That is hard to do with a love story.

EXCERPT

“Are you a virgin?” I ask.

“Well . . . yes.”

“Then why are you complaining? You qualify.”

Sarah’s eyes flash with annoyance. “Because I’m more than my hymen, Henry! To base the value of an accomplished, intelligent woman on a flimsy piece of skin is degrading. How would you feel if your worth rested on your foreskin?”

I think it over. And then I grin. “I’d be all right with that, actually. I’ve heard it was an impressive foreskin—all the nurses were fawning over it. It’s probably being showcased in a museum right now.”

She stares at me for a beat, then she laughs out loud—a rich, throaty, sensual sound.

“You’re a terrible human being.”

“I know.” I shake my head at the calamity of it all.

“And you’re an even worse feminist.”

“Agreed. That’s something I need to work on. You’ll help me, won’t you? We should spend as much time together as possible—every minute of the day and night. I’m hoping you’ll rub off on me.”

Sarah pushes my shoulder. “You’re just hoping I’ll rub you off.”

Now it’s my turn to laugh. Because she’s not even a little bit wrong.

“But there’s never been anyone? Really?”

Sarah shrugs. “Penny and I were tutored at home when we were young . . . but in year ten, there was this one boy.”

I rub my hands together. “Here we go—tell me everything. I want all the sick, lurid details. Was he a footballer? Captain of the team, the most popular boy in school?”

“He was captain of the chess team.”

I cover my eyes with my hand.

“His name was Davey. He wore these adorable tweed jackets and bow ties, he had blond hair and was a bit pale because of the asthma. He had the same glasses as me and he had a different pair of argyle socks for every day of the year.”

“I am so disappointed in you right now.”

“He was nice,” she chides. “You leave my Davey alone.”

I shake my head. “So what happened to old Davey boy?”

“I was alone in the library one day and he came up and started to ask me to the spring social. And I was so excited and nervous I could barely breathe. And then before he could finish the question, I . . .”

I don’t realize I’m leaning toward her until she stops talking and I almost fall over.

“You . . . what?”

Sarah hides behind her hands.

“I threw up on him.”

And I try not to laugh. I swear I try . . . but I’m only human. So I end up laughing so hard the car shakes and I can’t speak for several minutes.

“Christ almighty.”

“And I’d had fish and chips for lunch.” Sarah’s laughing too. “It was awful.”

“Oh you poor thing.” I shake my head, still chuckling. “And poor Davey.”

“Yes.” She wipes under her eyes with her finger. “Poor Davey. He never came near me again after that.”

“Coward—he didn’t deserve you. I would’ve swam through a whole lake of puke to take a girl like you to the social.”

She smiles so brightly at me, her cheeks maroon and round like two shiny apples.

“I think that’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

I wiggle my eyebrows. “I’m all about the compliments.”

royally-matched-for-web

Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

***

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it.

***

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

EXCERPT

The next week is blissfully uneventful. I address Palace business during the day, and spend my nights with Olivia—which are so much more than blissful.

While I work, she relaxes like I want her to. She walks the grounds and has found a friend in Franny. They’ve had lunch together a few times, which doesn’t exactly thrill me, but at the very least, I know she’s safe with Simon’s wife.

Franny, and her forked tongue, will protect Olivia from the Lucy-types looking to wound her with their half-truths.

On the rare occasions my brother is sober, he becomes increasingly agitated—like he’s unable to sit still, to stand his own company, or any sound that resembles silence. Finally, he decides to throw a welcome home party for himself.

I’m in my bathroom preparing for his royal yacht party, just showered with a towel around my hips, scraping the last of the shaving cream off my jaw, when Olivia appears in the doorway.

I thought she was lovely from the first moment I saw her. But here, now—her bare, soft skin wrapped in a pink silk robe, her face glowing with well-rested happiness…she’s magnificent.

“So…do you guys have like a gift shop or a convenience store around here?”

I laugh. “A gift shop?”

She holds up a light blue disposable razor. “I’m out of razors. This one’s so dull I could run it over my tongue without drawing blood.”

“Let’s not test that theory. I like your tongue too much.” I wipe my chin with a towel. “I can have the staff bring one to your room.”

The devil on my shoulder—and the angel too—smack me upside the head. And they whisper a much better idea.

“Or…I could help you out.”

Her brows draw together. “Help me out? I can’t use your razor.”

“No, definitely not—you’d cut yourself to ribbons.” I finger the sharp, heavy straight blade. “What I mean is…I could shave for you.”

Her eyes darken, the way they do when she’s right on the edge—right before she comes. And she moves closer to me.

“Do you…want to do that?”

My gaze drags down, down, over every sumptuous inch of her body.

“Oh, yes.”

Review: ‘Bossman’ by Vi Keeland – a fun story about moving on from the ghosts of the past

bossmann

Format: e-book, paperback

Format read: e-book

Series: stand-alone

Rating: 18+ sexual content, language

Genre: Romance

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31140847-bossman?from_search=true

It is not very often that you find a story that can make you laugh, smile, and cry all at the same time. This story does just that. Vi Keeland brings us a couple that on the surface looks like it’s just going to be a fun romance, but peel back the layers and you see that there is something deeper going on here.

Case in point, Chase. Chase is that loveable playboy that you think is just trying to woo Reese after he sees her at a restaurant. And their first encounter? Probably the funniest first encounter I have ever read for two people. She is on an awful date with someone and is trying to use that old tactic of having a friend call and whisk her away on an emergency. Chase of course feels bad for the poor shmuck (but not bad enough not to crash the date).

Things get worse for Reese as she tries to get over that crush she developed for Chase but it only gets worse when Chase becomes her new boss. Now, she opens up a can of a whole new mess of problems. She’s been burned by an office romance in the past and doesn’t want a relationship with Chase to affect her job.

Sounds like an easy enough job right?

Wrong.

 photo french-kiss-2_zpsw8llocs6.gif

Now when you have Chase using every single opportunity he can to try and break her. And obviously she does break. You can’t really stand your own against a man like Chase. Let us be honest with one another. What Reese doesn’t know that she signed up for was the ghosts that Chase is ‘chasing’ (ha like that pun there) from. He holds a lot of guilt and it only gets worse as the story progresses.

When we finally get to the truth behind Chase’s past, you can’t help but feel for him. I mean, it’s hard to take what happened to him and try to move on. Guilt would eat at anyone. Vi Keeland does a great job at dropping subtle hints to Chase’s past without it overpowering the story. She creates character that you are rooting for from the beginning and never stop rooting for no matter how stupid one of them may act (Chase…achoo).

Bossman is a fun read that you will likely swallow up in one day. It’s funny, cute, and got those touching moments that will make you want more. It reminds me a lot of Emma Chase’s Tangled series, so if you like those books, then you will love this book as well.

Rating: A

You can buy Bossman on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and iBooks
