In the third book of the series, we go back a little in the timeline as we see Cain who has a past full of regrets has sworn to saving Miami one stripper at a time but when he meets Charlie, she changes all of his plans and he finds himself making up for past mistakes. Problem is, Charlie isn’t who she says she is and has her own past to contend with.

The story dives deeper in the life of Kacey’s boss, Cain, as he swears off any kind of life outside of trying to save the ones that no one else cares about. It seems really noble but the reasons that he’s doing it are more for his own selfish guilt. On the surface he is what ever girl would want but he never has wasnted anyone until he meets Charlie (naturally).

Charlie is trying to start over and hide away from the life that she is being forced to live but when she meets Cain he challenges everything that she is trying to do. She finds herself falling for him and before she has time to stop it, she has fallen.

As the story unravels, we get to see all that Charlie is involved in and that this one might be the one that Cain won’t be able to save. She is in some deep stuff with her step-father Sam who she has an unhealthy bond with. Tucker does a great job at showing the effects of what can happen to people who grow up in this kind of life and how hard it is to get any kind of self esteem.

As the story unfolds, Tucker shows the dangers of living in drug trafficking can bring. I was expecting a little bit more of this especially considering that Charlie was knee deep in the world and would typically be the kind of girl that would be attacked. While we get a little glimpse of what could happen, I think I would have liked a bit more action, perhaps a scene towards the end when Cain comes in and saves the day and becomes her knight in shiny armor.

The story is not as riveting and captivating as the first two books, but it’s still a great book to read. We get to see the tough-as-nails strip club owner fall in love and open himself up to the world while he  tries to save the one girl that he can’t live without.
