‘Hottest Mess’ by J Kenner release day blitz

hotttest mess

The S.I.N. series continues with the seductive follow-up to the Stark International Novel Dirtiest Secret, from the New York Times bestselling author of “red-hot and angsty” fiction that “keeps readers guessing” (Publishers Weekly, on Under My Skin).

No one can know about our love—and hiding only makes it hotter.

Dallas Sykes has a reputation. He is known for his parties, his money, and the countless women on his arm. Yet the Dallas I know is a different man—darker, smarter, and unbearably sexy. Just one look from him can leave me breathless; the anticipation of his touch can make me lose control.

Inextricably bound by our past, we keep each other’s secrets. And while there are people who have the power to hurt us, it’s the truth that threatens us most of all.

Dallas can be mine only behind closed doors, our passion as searing as it is forbidden. Yet nothing in this world has ever felt so desperately, deliciously right.

Hottest Mess is intended for mature audiences.

We pick up right where we leave from the first book. Jane is still reeling from the news that the man that she loves is the one that is she is trying to uncover. He is the one that created Deliverance and is gun-ho on trying to find out and take out the people responsible for kidnapping them.

I love when the title fits the story. When you read a title/blurb you get an idea of what you expect to happen. This one really takes the cake because this story is literally a hot mess. But in the best possible way. Dallas and Jane are in a major mess of a situation. They are in love but they have to fight with the fact that they are adopted siblings and the fact that Dallas can’t perform. They go down a messy road as they try and help him past his demons, but all that does is create more of a mess that leaves more problems for them to work through.

Dallas is more beautiful in this story as we get to see more of how he got to where he is and why he’s so determined to take out the people that kidnapped him. When I read what happened to him, I literally could feel the emotions through the page. Kenner was able to capture that heartache that it made me believe that she actually lived it herself (I pray that she didn’t). The raw emotion that Dallas expresses to Jane when he admits what happened cannot be matched that it makes me sad that this kind of stuff actually does happen.

Jane for her credit, tries. She really, really tries to be the woman that Dallas needs. At time I think she is trying a little too hard and it makes me wonder where this obsession comes from. As I read on with the book, I begin to understand it. Dallas and her went to Hell together and I bet that she feels guilty that she got out before he did. While she doesn’t come out and say it, I can feel that she is just so forgiving of Dallas’s shortcomings and the fact that he lies a lot to her because a small part of her feels guilty. That or maybe she really does want Dallas to find and kill the people who hurt them. That could also be it.

For me, Kenner is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. While there are some choices that she makes with her characters that I don’t agree with, I like where it ends up. Sometimes the story is ugly and things will happen that we don’t like, but that is life. Things are going to happen that we don’t like but that doesn’t mean that the destination wasn’t worth it. I have loved the other books that she has written and I am not disappointed with where this one is going as well.

At risk of their being a spoiler, I will say that there is something that happens in this story that will make Kenner fans smile, but I won’t say what it is. You will just have to wait and see.

This review comes with a warning. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the story. An even bigger one than the one from the first book. The story builds up to something happening between Jane and Dallas. You are so focused on that happening that this twist/cliffhanger ending comes and knocks you on your butt.

Start reading the series with Dirtiest Secret

From the New York Times bestselling author of such “racy, sizzling Stark novels” (RT Book Reviews) as Release Me and Say My Name comes the provocative first Stark International Novel—the beginning of the S.I.N. series.

It was wrong for us to be together, but it was even harder to be apart.

The memory of Dallas Sykes burns inside of me.

Everyone knows him as a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to me, he’s still the one man I desperately crave—yet the one I can never have.

Dallas knows me better than anyone else. We bear the same scars, the same darkness in our past. I thought I could move on by staying away, but now that we’re drawn together once more, I can’t fight the force of our attraction or the temptation to make him mine.

We’ve tried to maintain control, not letting ourselves give in to desire. And for so long we’ve told ourselves no—but now it’s finally time to say yes.

Book of the Week – ‘Hottest Mess’ by J Kenner

hotttest mess

In the second book of the series, we meet back up with Dallas and Jane as they try and make relationship out of the Hell of a past that they went through. They have to decide if what they have is worth going through their past because Dallas has yet to fully deal with what happened to him when he was kidnapped.

This is one of those series where you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. The cover is bright yellow and pink making you think that it’s all light and happiness. When you dive into the book, it is anything but. It’s a very dark story about how hard it is to let go of the past and how just because you love someone, doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy.

You can buy the book at Amazon | Barnes and Noble | iBooks

Other books coming out today are Rampage by John Sanford and Michelle Cook, Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton and The Sapphire Affair by Lauren Blakely.

In this new book by Keeland, it involves a woman who falls for a man and wants to hook up with him but can’t because there is that pesky business of him being her boss. There is going to be lust. There is going to be angst. And there is going to be heartbreak. Someone is going to get hurt and it’s only going to be the history of what makes them come together that is going to decide how bad they do.

#4 – Pennie$ by Pepper Winters

Out: 7/19
Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25296512-pennies?from_search=true&search_version=service

In the first book of a new series by Winters, we dive into another level of a dark world. Tasmin thinks that she survived death only to find that she is in a new pit of Hell. If you have read books by Winters, then you know she dabbles into the dark side of what reality has to bring us and this book is going to be no different. It deals with sex slavery and I for one am excited to see where she is going to take us this time.

This is the second book of the SIN series. While the book takes place in the world of Stark International, it deals with different characters. Dallas and Jane experienced something that no one should experience and they are trying to find their road to recovery. It sounds simple until they find that his ghosts are ghosts but in fact demons that are tearing apart his life. Jane tries to be the person that he needs but the father into hell she goes the harder that she sees that it’s going to be to help him.

act of salvation

#2- An Act of Obsession by KC Lynn

Out: 7/19

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28574017-an-act-of-obsession?from_search=true&search_version=service

In the next book of the series, we reconnect with Kolan and Sophie as Kolan tries to get over the fact that he almost went away for murder and Sophie just might be the perfect outlet for him. Sophie has her own demons from her past so it’s going to take a lot of strength from Kolan to be the man that she needs. If you haven’t read any books from Lynn yet, then you are missing out. Each book brings you more characters that you fall in love with and this book will likely do the same thing. From what we’ve read from the last book and the synopsis of this book, we are going to get a big amount of romance in the BDSM department. Be prepared for a new master.

Torn Amazon

#1 – Torn by Jennifer Armentrout

Out: 7/19

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23149314-torn?from_search=true&search_version=service

In the second book of the Wicked series, we meet back up with Ren and Ivy as they try and deal with the secrets that they unfolded in the first book and decide if they have what it takes to make a relationship last. Like the Titan series, it deals with love, romance, relationships, friendships, with a touch of paranormal added in. There is a lot of characters that we can all fall in love with, but it’s the relationship between Ivy and Ren that keeps the fans reading.
