Review

Guilt is a poison that consumes our body and never lets it go. It’s even worse when it’s survivors guilt after losing someone that you love. That is the struggle that Zee has throughout the whole book. His brother died seemingly of an OD and he feels guilty not only because he survived but because of what happened right before Marc died.

Alexis knows a thing or two about guilt. She is drowning in it as well as she watches her twin sister go down a road that can only lead to her death. She is connected to her sister and only wants what is best for her but how do you help them without putting yourself in danger? That is really the big question of the hour.

This book dives into those emotions that we feel when we have to say good bye to someone that we love and mourn the fact that they are no longer the people that we once knew. Zee and Alexis are two different heads of the same coin. They have a lot of similarities which makes sense that they would find solace in the other. What I love is that we see the struggle of wanting what they want and also making sure to keep promises that were made in the past.

There were times that Zee annoyed me, but in a good way. I always get frustrated when one of the people in the couple keeps pushing away the other because ‘its for their own good’. Zee thinks that Alexis deserves better than him but can’t seem to keep himself away. That’s why when they finally get together its one of those HALLELUJAH moments. There is a big build up before they get together and

Zee is that poor puppy dog that you just want to wrap up in a bubble and protect. He may be a man by age but he is still a lost boy who is trying to find his way in the world. I could feel everything that he was feeling as we go through the book and try to understand how he got to be a part of Sunder. I am glad and happy to see that he finally grew up to be a man and get his HEA.

Compared to the other books (because it’s hard not to when it’s a book series) is that it’s not my favorite of the series. I did enjoy reading it and liked it, but I think that the last book is still my favorite in the series.

‘The Wright Boss’ by KA Linde has Landon trying to win the girl of his dreams

TWBoss iBooksA new stand alone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I’ve always had one rule:

Don’t mix business and pleasure.

But then Landon Wright comes home to his family’s construction company with a broken back and a beaten heart and ends up as my new sexy boss. As the office gets heated, I’m thinking about throwing the rulebook out the window.

If only there weren’t a million reasons this could never work.

We may have shared a single perfect kiss, but I can’t let our intense connection cloud my judgment. Not with everything I’ve worked for on the line.

Dating your boss is so very, very wrong…even if he feels so Wright.

 Review

I absolutely loved the first book and I was so happy to know that this book is just as good as the first one. Like the first one, there is a lot of angst between Heidi and Landon. Once he becomes her boss, their relationship becomes forbidden fruit for the other.

And of course neither one can resist.

Heidi is stuck between her heart and her mind and that struggle of what she wants most spells bad news for Landon. As we see more of Heidi’s character and the past (especially with her father) we see why she is a little hesitant to let Landon in. Add to the fact that Landon has more baggage then an airplane, it would make anyone hesitate to begin a relationship with him.

But Landon. He is beyond swoon worthy. I thought Jensen was the perfect man but after seeing Landon with Heidi, I am beginning to wonder if I am wrong. Landon has his issues because Miranda is crazy and only wants Landon because of his money. We get to see even more of the ugly that is inside of her and wonder (much like his siblings) what he ever saw in Miranda.

The romance part of the book??! Hot DAY-UM! It’s hotter than what happen in the first book because the forbidden nature of the relationship. They have to hide what they feel for one another not only for their jobs but because of the fact that Landon is going through an ugly divorce with Miranda. Reading the angst between them made me feel that I was in the moment with them.

This family has their problems, much like any family does, but KA Linde shows that while their may be problems with the siblings, they will stop at nothing to help one another out. I love the back and forth that Landon has with his siblings and how he relies on each one of them for different things. Much like we all do with our siblings.

KA Linde does a great job at setting up the next book that will feature Austin and most likely Julia. We see a peak into how their relationship started and what happened and we also get inklings of the problems that they have a head. I can’t wait to see where the story takes us.

:
BATTLE OF THE SEXES
Carver Jones’ partner at Jones + Gallum had to step down for medical reasons. He’s absolutely devastated. He swears. Just ignore his cheeky grin, okay?

When word reaches his fancy corner office that Gallum is replacing himself with his daughter, Amity, Carver is ecstatic.

For real this time.

Jones squashes men in the business industry flat. A woman? Pfst. He’ll be completely in charge in no time, doing whatever he wants. He’s so ready for this.

But is he ready to fight the hardest fight of his life? No, not the one to maintain control of his company. The one to keep control of his heart.

The battle may begin in the boardroom, but the war will definitely be won in the bedroom. May the best sex win.

EXCERPT :

BATTLE OF THE SEXES
“There’s a woman here to see you, Mr. Jones,” Marisa chirps through the line.

“Send her in.”

Swiping a set of files from the corner of my desk, I spread them in front of me in a haphazard, I’ve-been-doing-this-all-day, kind of way. Not that I haven’t been working since before the sun came up. I have. But that’s not the point.

The point is this: first impressions matter most. It sets the stage for every other interaction, regardless of the relationship. And the relationship I’m about to have with Amity Gallum, as co-CEO’s of Jones + Gallum, will be the most important one in my life.

Hell, it might be the only one in my life, but that’s irrelevant.

The door handle flicks. I bow my head and appear to be so invested in the numbers in front of me that I don’t hear it. I’ll force her to break the ice. I don’t break for anyone.

My stomach begins to knot as I wait for her to say something. I imagine her standing in the doorway, a load of binders in her hand, as she looks at me over the top of those clunky glasses she wore when we were kids. I hope to God she upgraded those in the last twenty years.

Frustration grows with each second she doesn’t bother to speak, and after more moments than I care to admit, I finally look up.

Holy. Shit.

One thing is clear—this isn’t Amity Gallum. There’s no way this stunner is the braces-wearing, freckle-faced, nerdy little girl I knew in elementary school. No. Freaking Way.

After making a quick mental note to tell Marisa to not assume I know who is here to see me, I feast my eyes on the voluptuous visitor. My lips twist into a smirk as I try to keep myself composed. “Good afternoon,” I say smoothly.

“Yes, it is.”

It takes every bit of effort I can manage to keep my jaw from dropping. Even after all this time, I recognize that voice.

Black stilettos do nothing but extend long, lean legs that are capped off with a black skirt. A white top, rounded at the chest by a full set of tits, has a tailored black jacket on top. Loose, blonde curls touch her shoulders.

She. Definitely. Upgraded.

“Can I help you?” I grin, rifling through all the ways I can–and hope to be–helping her later.

Her blue eyes pin me to my chair, clearly unamused by my reaction to her “fuck me” body. “No, but I can help you find a restraining order if you don’t stop looking at me like that, Carver.”

“Like what?” I grin.

“Like you’re a ten-year-old boy that wants to pick me for Seven Minutes in Heaven.”

“You still think about that?”

“Yes,” she smiles. “You come to mind any time any guy is being an asshole.”

With a half-laugh, I try to rebound. “That’s no way to talk to your boss.”

A fire lights up her eyes. “Let’s get one thing straight: you are not my boss. We are co-CEO’s of this company.” Her narrow shoulders throw back, her mouth forming a tight, thin line. “If you think you’re going to bend me over, you have another think coming.”

“Do you prefer another position?”

“I don’t like you,” she glares. “I won’t like you. And,” she says, storming in and getting comfortable on the sofa across from my desk, “if you get in my way, I will make you pay.”

Challenge accepted.

‘Sex in the Sticks’ by Sawyer Bennett will have you wanting to move to Alaska

Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.

Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

Review

That is it. I am moving to Alaska and finding myself an Alaskan man. They are true gentlemen who know how to treat a woman right both in and out of the bedroom.

Valentine is trying to break out of her funk that she is in with the men of New York. She thinks that Alaska will be her solution because the odds are in her favor. And she hit the lottery with Logan. He is rugged, handsome, well-endowed and treats her like a queen. She knows what she wants in life and is not afraid to ask for it.

While I love me some alpha males I really enjoyed the fact that Logan was more on the timid side. Don’t get me wrong, his alpha male did make appearances especially in the bedroom but there was a softer side of him and I loved seeing a romance where the female is the dominant essentially.

I have read plenty of Sawyer Bennett books and this one is ranked high up there for one of my favorites. It’s light-hearted and fun and is not one of those stories that will rip your heart and soul right from your chest. It’s a quick and relaxing read, perfect for a day at the beach. Especially since the sun tan will hide your blush when you read some of the love scenes.

AuthorPhotoSince the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

‘The Player’ by K. Bromberg is a homerun

Blurb

Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather, his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to maintain the club’s best interest, in regards to whether he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat, or is one of them bound to get burned?

Review

Enter into a world where your job is based on numbers, age, skill, and confidence. Where you can be placed in a heart beat. Where you can go from zero to hero back to zero. That is where we find ourselves in this story. Easton Wydler is trying to get back to the lineup after a shoulder injury placed him on the DL (baseball is the sport we are talking about now). It all comes down to new trainer Scout to nurse him back to health, but there is a lot more riding on this relationship. Like his heart.

I absolutely love the words that K. Bromberg writes down. She is able to extract emotions without your knowledge and consume them with every letter that she puts to paper. Easton is bad boy on the surface but a good guy deep down. Scout has a laundry list of problems that make it hard for him to just win her over with his good looks and words but it’s the struggle that makes it all worth while.

I am a big baseball fan, so I have high expectations when it comes to romance in baseball books. This book was not able to not only meet my expectations but exceed them. We find that there is a lot riding on whether or not Easton can make it back to the game because it also dictates what happens with Scout.

That romance between Scout and Easton! Holy smokes! There are so many comparisons between the sport of baseball and their love life and will make you look at baseball in a new way. And those few scenes when they are in the basement of his apartment, make sure to not be in a public place. Because you are going to blush.

As the book comes to an end we, we do get a bit of a cliffhanger, so be warned for that. It’s not one of those OMG I am going to hunt down the author and make her tell me what is going to happen next kind of cliffhangers, but it’s definitely something to be aware of. A lot happens in a short amount of time that it might be hard to keep up with where the story is going but it does set up nicely with the next book because you are going to have a lot of questions.
