Eden and Cooper reconnect in ‘Jilted’ by Sawyer Bennett

Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.

“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

Review

What do you do when the piranhas of the press are looking for blood? You go to the last place where to look for you. A small town in the middle of Georgia. Except they are just as hostile there. But none so colder to Eden then the man that she left behind, Cooper, so that she could follow her dreams in being an actress. He holds anger for her not only about what happened when they broke up but what happened when she was gone. He thinks that he’s over her, that is until she comes up with a proposal that has him rethinking things.

Here I thought that the book couldn’t get any hotter than the last book, but I was sadly mistaken. Eden and Cooper are into some kinky and crazy things that once they finally get together it’s dynamite. It sizzles and burns from page to page that I was blushing at times with the things that Cooper did to Eden. Sawyer Bennett’s words are so descriptive and intense that you forget about the world around you and get enraptured but what is unfolding in the story.

There are some plot ‘twists’ in the story, if you want to call it that, but it’s nothing that you couldn’t probably see coming. The biggest one comes towards the front of the book and you know that it’s only going to explain how and why Cooper and Eden get back together. The only issue (if you want to call it that) is how quickly the book goes over the plot points of the story. How they each just accept the other person’s mistakes of the pasts without any real talking about it and figuring out how it makes them feel. Of course, with it being a romance novel, that is to be expected.

Sawyer Bennett’s love stories are some of my favorite to read. I love that they are quick reads and I am blown away with how creative her stories can be because they are not all that similar. I have read other romance authors and there are times when the author uses the same story lines over different books, but I have yet to see that in her books (and I have read a good 80% of her books). I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

While the book is the second book of the Love Hurts series, it’s actually not connected to the first book in any real way. There are no characters that are similar so it’s nice to know that it can be read as a stand-alone. It does end with a HEA so you can breathe easy.

Top 5 books coming out in July

#5 – Beautiful Mistake by Vi Keeland

Out: 7/17

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.
He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.
When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.
You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.
He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.
Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.
Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.
Oops. My mistake.
Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.
I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?
That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.
Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.
I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.
Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.
This was going to be interesting…
