EXCERPT

Her smile was magnetic, and I just wanted to kiss her. I mean…I’d wanted to kiss her all night. But sitting there, in front of the last lit house, with Christmas music playing in the background and her smile radiating joy, there was nowhere else I’d rather be. That thought hit me so suddenly and I didn’t even know why.

I put my truck into park, leaned over to her side of the car, and pushed my hand up into her dark hair. She froze, silhouetted by the light display behind her. Her eyes locked with mine, green meeting brown, and her eyes widened with surprise. She breathed out softly, and I could feel her pulse ratchet up at my touch.

This was the girl who had pulled me across the room at Sutton’s wedding, like a magnet finding its pair. This was the tension that I’d felt when we first spoke. Here was the world of desire and lust that had clouded both of our minds ever since our first kiss.

My face was only inches from hers. I wanted to take what was mine. I wanted to claim her mouth and then her body right here in the cab of my truck, like we were young, wild, and carefree.

But, instead, I couldn’t seem to stop staring at her.

She laughed lightly to try to defuse the tension. But it wasn’t possible, and it was a feeble effort.

“Are you going to kiss me?” she whispered boldly.

I didn’t need any further prodding. I crushed my lips against hers. It was like striking a match. Our lips moved against each other, desperate with the need to get closer, to have more. She opened her mouth for me, and I brushed my tongue against hers. The groan that emanated from deep in the back of her throat made my dick twitch. Our tongues volleyed for position. She was just as aching for attention as I was.

I heard the click of her belt buckle, and soon, she was pushing her body closer, moving over the divide of my truck. My hands fell to her ass, and I effortlessly hoisted her up and into my seat. She squeaked in shock but didn’t break contact. Instead, she straddled me and let her hands wander across my chest.

My hands never left her ass because, damn, did that woman have an ass. She was grinding up against me, and I moved into a full-blown hard-on at her ministrations. She must have realized what she was doing to me because, when she swiveled her hips in place, she moaned against the feel of my dick.

In that moment, I didn’t give a shit that we were acting like teenagers, parked outside of a stranger’s house, bucking against each other for just an ounce of satisfaction. I was ready to strip her bare and fuck her until she forgot every word to every Christmas song and only remembered my name.

That was, until she rocked back just a little too hard, and a loud honk erupted from the hood of the truck.

Review

I was so excited to read this book, and start this new series, by KA Linde because I absolutely loved her Record series. And I am happy to report that she did not disappoint.

Emery comes back to her hometown of Lubbock Texas after a bad breakup with her boyfriend and all she wants to do is forget about her past. But that all goes down the drain when a deeper part of her past comes up and she runs into a familiar face of Jensen Wright, the brother of the man who broke her heart in high school.

Jensen has his own things going on. Some bits and pieces. While they go into the relationship both thinking its going to be a fling we as readers know that just ain’t going to happen. Sure enough, Jensen finds himself falling for Emery hard and fast and it turns his life in a tailspin because it’s like he forgets how to be a person. He says stupid things (which we all have done), he does stupid (again guilty), but the fact that he never quits is what makes you root for him.

I love the dynamic of their relationship. They both have a hard past and dealt with people who cheated on them so naturally trust will be an issue. Once they get over that hurdle (which is a big one), they become that romantic couple that is too cute that it makes you sick. I was just happy that we got to see a lot of those moments because I really like reading them together.

While I love the couple and their relationship, the story did lack that ‘shocking factor’. The twist of the story will likely be guessed by most of you out there but that does nothing to deter from the story. For me, it actually enhanced it even though I knew what was going to happen.

This is part of a new series where it will follow a new couple with each book. The kind of series that I like and I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.

Stacia Palmer had one goal in life–to become an NFL quarterback’s wife.

But can Stacia give him a second chance when he’s toyed with her emotions into the fourth quarter? Or will they run out of time?

Review

In this book, we follow quarterback chasing Stacia as she jumps from starting quarterback to starting quarterback trying to find someone she can see a future with. Problem is that she can’t get over what her last love, Pace, did to her, no matter how hard he tries to make her see that they are meant to be together.

I really wanted to love this book. I liked that the story revolved around the sport of football and I liked that it involved a sports romance, but I just couldn’t fully get behind Stacia and Pace’s story. Stacia, for most of the book, is going around complaining and getting upset at every turn that Pace makes.

For the conflict, I really couldn’t care about it. I felt the delivery of it could have been done better because it felt very ‘high school’. I know when I was in college, the stuff that they were doing and saying is stuff that I said during those days. Maybe it’s me and maybe I am wrong, but I felt that the characters were just meh.

The stuff I did like she did well. The scenes where Pace and Stacia were together romantically were spicy and certainly were hot enough to keep you interested. There weren’t that many scenes when they were together (that you got to read) but when you did, it definitely is something that should be read in the privacy of no watchful eyes.

I wanted more for the story. I wished that the pace wasn’t so ‘guns to the wall’ fast. If we would have taken the time to get to know the characters on a deeper level, I probably would have liked the story a whole lot more.

Excerpt

Stacia felt a presence at her shoulder. She recognized his cologne before she even looked up. It smelled like desire and late-night sex marathons.

Pace.

“What do you want?” Stacia asked, not looking up.

“Just coming to check on you,” Pace said in a sexy low tone that sent a shot of need straight between her legs.

Damn him for being able to do that to me!

She jerked her head up. “Why?”

“Because you look miserable, even from across the room.”

“I do not!”

He raised an eyebrow, and she had to keep from sighing. That face. God, if he wasn’t such an asshole…

“The hair flip earlier, Pink? Really? Sure sign of distress. You practically called me over here.”

Don’t call me that,” she said through gritted teeth.

He smirked at her response.

“And I didn’t call you over here. I don’t even want to see you.”

“You can talk to me, you know.” He leaned his hip against the bar. He was almost touching her but not quite. She could feel the heat of his skin. “Come on, let’s go outside. Away from all this noise.”

“If you think for one second that I’m going to go anywhere with you, you’re insane,” she said, straightening.

He brushed her hair off one shoulder and just barely skimmed his finger across her exposed collarbone. She stiffened. Her entire body throbbed. No one else elicited these primal emotions from her. Not even the guy she’d given her virginity to. The guy no one knew about.

“I promise I won’t touch you,” he growled out. “Unless you beg me to.”

Stacia smacked him in the chest and stormed away. What an arrogant jackass! How dare he say those things to her! For all he knew, she was still dating Marshall. Pace was so testy over the fact that he thought she’d slept with Marshall when they were together, yet here he was, seducing her, while he still believed she was with Marshall. Ass!

Pace chuckled behind her. “Come on, Stacia. I’m just messing with you.”

He followed her across the crowded room until she reached the restroom. Then, he did exactly what he’d said he wouldn’t. He grabbed her arm and kept her from entering a place he wouldn’t follow.

“Seriously, what’s up?” he asked.

“Do you really want to know?” Fury and also desperation coated her features. She really wanted to tell someone. She wanted it off her chest.

“Yeah. Though this fire is pretty hot.” He raised an eyebrow.

“God, is everything just a joke to you?” she asked.

His eyes shot straight through her. “Not everything.”

“Feels like it. I feel like a joke to you.”

“Most things, Pink,” he said, stepping closer, “but not you. Never you.”

Stacia tensed as she forgot the world around her. Pace had a way of doing that—making her lose herself. But all she did by losing herself was open herself up for him to hurt her. Time and time again.

“Pace,” she said through a shuddering breath.

“I won’t take what isn’t mine.”

“Good.”

“I just still consider you mine.”

Liz and Andrea wonder if they can tame Clay in ‘Struck from the Record’ by KA Linde excerpt

Struck Amazon

Blurb

Clay Maxwell is a smart, quick witted, sex-driven, manwhore with the good looks to match. Plenty of women have shared his bed, but only one has ever been constant, Andrea.

Their rules were simple. When they’re together, it’s just the two of them. When they’re apart, anything is fair game. And it worked. For ten years.

But one of them has changed the game…

Clay must decide if his player ways are worth losing the one girl who has always been there.

“Yet another awesome read from K.A. Linde! Clay is HOT and BAD in the best way possible, you won’t be able to put it down! I literally was begging for more!” -A.L. Jackson, NYT Bestselling Author

Excerpt

“What’s going on?” Andrea asked.

Liz plopped into the chair next to Andrea. “It is a madhouse! Be glad that Clay is already with you,” she said, brushing her long blonde hair out of her face. “Brady got all caveman on me when I said I had to find my own seat! He didn’t want me to leave his side, but it’s not like I can sit with all the congressmen!”

“He just likes having you with him,” Andrea said sensibly.

Liz brightened at the words. “Yeah. He’s a little protective.”

“A little?”

“A lot,” she admitted. “But he had to be during all the election chaos we had to deal with.”

Andrea tapped Liz on the hand. “Honey, that runs in the Maxwell blood.”

Clay snorted.

“I’ve noticed,” Liz said, looking pointedly at Clay.

“You’re lucky though,” Andrea said. “Brady is a great guy. A respectable man. It was nice to see him settle down and with someone who could keep up with him.”

That sounded strangely like a compliment. Clay had never really been sure what Andrea thought of Liz. Their first meeting, in which Andrea had called Liz boring and promptly told him not to fuck her, had been pretty memorable. Since then, the two hadn’t exactly gotten off on the right foot, but it seemed that they both were becoming more accommodating to the other. He didn’t even know when that had happened. He seemed to be missing a lot lately.

Liz shot Andrea a surprised look, and then her gaze moved down to her engagement ring. “I’m glad to see him settle down, especially with everything we’ve been through.”

“This is good for you two.”

“Thanks, Andrea,” Liz said with a warm smile.

Clay pretended not to be paying attention when Liz leaned over and whispered to Andrea, “And what about you and your Maxwell brother? Can you get the black-sheep bad boy to settle down? Can you tame his ways?”

Andrea laughed. “I don’t want to tame him. I like him the way he is—wild and mine.”
