KA Tucker announces new book ‘Be the Girl’ coming out January 21st

BE THE GIRL Description:

From the national bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and The Simple Wild comes a poignant story about a girl trying to change her future while evading her past.

Almostsixteen-year-old Aria Jones is starting over. New postal code, new last name, new rules. But she doesn’t mind, because it means she can leave her painful regrets behind. In the bustling town of Eastmonte, she can become someone else. Someone better.

With the Hartford family living next door, it seems she will succeed. Sure, Cassie Hartford may be the epitome of social awkwardness thanks to her autism, but she also offers an innocent and sincere friendship that Aria learns to appreciate. And Cassie’s older brother, Emmett—a popular Junior A hockey player with a bright future—well … Aria wishes that friendship could lead to something more. If he didn’t already have a girlfriend, maybe it would.

But Aria soon finds herself in a dicey moral predicament that could derail her attempt at a fresh start. It is her loyalty to Cassie and her growing crush on Emmett that leads her to make a risky move, one that earns her a vindictive enemy who is determined to splinter her happy new world.

Between her sheer grit and pageant-queen smile, she lands a job as a front desk clerk at the Colorado Springs Hotel. It’s not a glamorous life, but she and her baby are all that matters.

A former Marine, Scott “Trex” Trexler has worked in the most dangerous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. As charming and devastatingly gorgeous as Trex is, he clearly isn’t telling her everything. A Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after. Our family feud is the stuff of legends.

Ten years ago, Whitney Gable caught me off guard with her long legs and grab-you-by-the-balls blue eyes.

I didn’t know or care what her name was.

Like any Riscoff worth the family name, I went after what I wanted. We burned like a flash fire until she married another man.

She hates me, and she should.

I objected on her wedding day.

Now she’s home, with those same long legs and man-eater stare, but there’s no ring on her finger.

They say a Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after . . . but I’m not done with Whitney Gable.

I’ll never be done with her.

#1- The Simple Wild by KA Tucker

Out: 8/7

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36373564-the-simple-wild

Calla Fletcher wasn’t even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

KEEP HER SAFE

K.A. TUCKER

National Bestselling Author

Making a Murderer meets Scandal in this story of police corruption, family secrets, and illicit affairs from bestselling author K.A. Tucker, celebrated for her “propulsive plot twists and searing seduction” (USA TODAY).

Noah Marshall has known a privileged and comfortable life thanks to his mother, the highly decorated chief of the Austin Police Department. But all that changes the night she reveals a skeleton that’s been rattling in her closet for years, and succumbs to the guilt of destroying an innocent family’s life. Reeling with grief, Noah is forced to carry the burden of this shocking secret.

Gracie Richards wasn’t born in a trailer park, but after fourteen years of learning how to survive in The Hollow, it’s all she knows anymore. At least here people don’t care that her dad was a corrupt Austin cop, murdered in a drug deal gone wrong. Here, she and her mother are just another family struggling to survive…until a man who clearly doesn’t belong shows up on her doorstep.

Despite their differences, Noah and Gracie are searching for answers to the same questions, and together, they set out to uncover the truth about the Austin Police Department’s dark and messy past. But the scandal that emerges is bigger than they bargained for, and goes far higher up than they ever imagined.

Complex, gritty, sexy, and thrilling, Keep Her Safe solidifies K.A. Tucker’s reputation as one of today’s most talented new voices in romantic suspense.

 Review

The police are meant to protect us from the evils in the world. But is there an area where sometimes you have to do a bad thing for the right reasons? What do you do if you don’t want to toe that line but live on the straight and narrow? You think that it’s an easy choice to make but it’s not and when you are stuck in the middle you don’t know what to do because your conscious us telling you one thing while your mind is telling you another.

Abraham Wilkes was accused and found guilty (in the eyes of the general public) of being a dirty cop. That is what everyone believed for 14 years. But its not until his partner, Jackie, is found dead does that investigation come to light and people wonder if he was really guilty. Wanting to find out the truth, not only for the woman who raised him, but also for the man who was like a father for him. He embarks on this dangerous journey with Abe’s daughter, Gracie as they try and uncover the truth.

There are so many twists and turns in this story that I had no idea where Tucker was going to take us next. What I love most about her writing is the way that she is able to bring her characters to life and give them raw and deep emotions. Gracie just wants to forget about her past but curiosity is a nasty little bugger that makes her want to know the truth.

That ending though. OMG, I did not see that one coming. I was expecting something completely different and was I loved the fact that Tucker was able to surprise me. There is a justice in the way that the story ends as we find out the truth about what happened that night that Abe died including some fun little twist at the end as well. The way that this story is written I hope that Tucker continues down this road because I love the way that this story played out.

‘Until It Fades’ by KA Tucker will have Catherine trying to find love despite her horrid past

ABOUT UNTIL IT FADES:

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Review

Catherine has had a rough go at life. Rebelled against her strict mother led to a relationship with a teacher that led her to be shunned by the town. She meets Brett in under distress and begins a whirlwind of a relationship with him but will his status be too much for her to take?

My favorite thing about KA Tucker’s books is the characters that she writes. She writes them in a way that makes them feel like you know them personal and the emotions that writes for them are so vivid and real that it makes you feel the same emotions as the characters. We attach ourselves to Catherine’s story and understand how and why she did the things that she did. It’s an everyday struggle for her to provide for her daughter and we see the sacrifices she makes for her.

Brett we don’t dive too much into. Yes there are stories and moments when we see the man he is, but for the most part he is the embodiment of a perfect man. And for me that was just too much. I like my flawed men that change for the love of a good woman. But not him he is pretty perfect already.

With that said, it brings me to the only part of the story that I had a time accepting. I have read every one of her books and I always loved the realistic nature (i.e. Timeframe used) for each of the relationships she wrote about. In this book, though, that time frame didn’t seem to exist. Brett and Catherine went from strangers to being in love after only one meeting. Yes how they met certainly can accelerate feelings, but for me, I would have thought each side would have wanted to know each other more, especially Catherine considering she had a daughter.

I am not sure how I feel about the end. There wasn’t really a conflict and in turn resolution. A part of me likes that because it gives a final HEA for the characters but at the same time, it felt unfinished.

Top 5 books coming out in June

#5 – The Knocked Up Plan by Lauren Blakely
Out: 6/23

There are three little words most guys don’t want to hear on the first date. Not those…I mean these… “knock me up.”

This single gal has had enough of the games, the BS and the endless chase. I know what I want most, and it’s not true love. It’s a bun in the oven, and I’m not afraid to hit up my sex-on-a-stick co-worker to do the job. Ryder is gorgeous, witty and wild — and he’s also a notorious commitment-phobe. That makes him the perfect candidate to make a deposit in the bank of me.

I won’t fall for him, he won’t fall for me, and there’s no way baby will make three.
Right?

****
There are four words every guy wants to hear on the first date — “your place or mine?”

When my hot-as-sin co-worker makes me a no-strings-attached offer that involves her place, my place, any place — as well as any position — I can’t refuse. Besides, I’ve got my own reasons to take her up on her deal even with her one BIG condition.

There’s no way I’ll want more from one woman than any position, any where, any night? Except . . . what if I do?

After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.

Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.

When it’s time to turn in his weapons, he never forgets the skills he learned. Never forgets the smell of death or feel of a rifle in his hands. The same hands that one day cradle his baby girl and caress the skin of his beautiful wife.

Review: ‘He Will Be My Ruin’ by KA Tucker – a mysterious new book that will have you guessing from start to finish

he will be my ruin

Format: e-book, paperback

Format read: e-book arc from Netgalley

Series: stand-alone

Rating: 16+ sexual content, language

Genre: Thriller/Mystery

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25814244-he-will-be-my-ruin

In this stand-alone we follow Maggie as she learns that her best friend died of apparent suicide but she is not convinced. She uses all her resources to try and find out the truth, no matter what it may be.

If you have read the other books by KA Tucker then you know how she is able to create many different characters from different backgrounds and is able to shape them without taking up to much of the book or making it boring. Throughout this book we get to see Maggie now only through her eyes but Celine’s as well as she tries to figure out what happened to her friend.

There is a mystery to this story that forces you to try and figure out what happened like Maggie. As you read it you compile clues and try to figure it out before it’s revealed. What makes it difficult is that you only get Maggie’s perspective and her prejudices. But this makes a great mystery book because sometimes it forces you to overlook a clue and when the big reveal comes it’s more of a surprise.

I really like everything that Tucker has written so far and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The stories draw you in and grab hold of you as you try to work out what is going to happen and prepare for the twist that you never see coming.

It takes a lot of skill to be able to write a story that keeps you a hold of you from start to finish. It’s one of those stories that you need to pay attention to, because if you don’t you will miss something important. Like Maggie, you go back and forth with what you think happened but when you get to truth, you will be shocked and amazed. Tucker knows how to write a twist that haves you sighing out loud because you can’t believe that you missed it.

KA Tucker is quickly becoming one of those authors that I will read a book from her just because she wrote it. It’s hard to find authors nowadays that can surprise you like she can and I can’t wait to read what she writes next.
