‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×22 recap – Dodds and Benson try to talk down a gunslinging CO looking for revenge

svu 17_22

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Heartfelt Passages’, the second part finale as Dodds has himself in a dangerous situation as he tries to calm down Gary who wants to take out his whole family.  Dodds and Benson have their hands full as they try and keep Gary from trying to kill his wife. While Dodds tries to talk him down, he gets himself shot and now he will spend some time fighting for his life. It wouldn’t’ be an SVU season finale episode if there wasn’t some kind of twist. We say good-bye to a fallen officer as Dodds doesn’t make it out of the second surgery.

Barba has his hands full as he tries to figure out who is threatening him and why. He thought it was because of the current case, but as he gets threatened again, he begins to wonder if that is the case. With the whole show focusing on Dodds, what’s going on with Barba gets put on the back burner until we find out that he was hired to intimidate him, but we don’t know who. We will have to wait until next season.

It can be considered good news, but there is no cliffhanger ending to this season but we see that Tucker and Benson are going down a road where they can have a future together.

The show is coming back for another season which means that we will get some more of Benson and her unit’s antics. With Dodds off the show, Fin is going to be called on again to be the number two for Benson. Either way, we are going to get a new detective as the unit try and get a squad that will stay long term. There were some ups and downs with Dodds but by the end of the season it’s safe to say that we all liked him. Carisi is slowly and surely getting his own fan base as he makes some crazy and bold decisions but mainly because he is helping Rollins with her daughter.

‘Law and Order SVU’ 17×21 – Brad Garrett guest stars as an officer abusing his power

svu 17_21

In this week’s episode, ‘Intersecting Lives’, the unit investigate an accusation that a commanding officer preys on woman that he is watching in jail. Right off that bat we get three big bombshells of information. Dodds is leaving to go to another department, Carisi passes the bar, and the best news of all, Fin is going to be a grandfather. My favorite is the Fin news. The Dodds news is sad because I was just warming up to him as Benson’s second. Looks like she is going to be pushing Fin again, or maybe will she choose Rollins or Carisi?

With Dodds leaving, that means we are going to get yet a new face for SVU. Since Stabler left, it’s been hard to nail down a cast from year to year like in the golden years of SVU. The show has been picked up for an 18th season so we will see where it takes us next fall.

Now it wouldn’t be a season finale if it didn’t consist of two parts. The first part of this show follows Gary, who is a respected officer at Rikers, who  gets accused of assaulting inmates. Now we know that he is guilty because we see him but everyone else thinks that SVU is just using him as an example. The show escalates as Barba gets his life threatened even though they should be thanking him for taking down someone who is abusing his power.

In the season finale, the show escalates as Dodds goes down in the line of duty and his life is in jeopardy as he tries to stop Gary from killing his family.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×20 recap – The unit try and take down a photographer who assaults his models

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Fashionable Crimes’, SVU is back in action as the unit investigate a model who accuses a photographer of raping her during a shoot. It’s been over a month since the last new SVU episode so it’s going to be an epic return for the show. While on the surface it looks like a typical SVU episode, with Munch’s return, it should have a twist or two in it. The photographer, Alvin, is someone that Finn and Munch looked at before, 12 years earlier.

Now of course there is money involved and it will make it harder for SVU to try and figure out how to get Alvin. When Benson sees how the family abandon Nora, she thinks they might be able to break her. But she’s too far under Alvin’s control. Munch steps in and tries to figure out how to take down Alvin. And after some chess moves by Benson and Barba they are able to get through to Nora.

The second twist of the show comes when the unit find that someone show Alvin dead at a fashion show. It should be easy to figure out who did it. Only a few hundred suspects. It quickly gets cut down when they look at the security tape and figure out that it was his brother that shot him. Sick of cleaning up his messes. Can’t say I blame him. He’s got a big mouth.

In the next episode, a woman on a reality dating show says that she was raped but it quickly becomes a circus once the media gets involved.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×19 recap – Carisi works undercover to try and find a rapist

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT -- "Sheltered Outcasts" Episode 1719 -- Pictured: (l-r) Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins, Michael Rapaport as Richie Caskey -- (Photo by: Michael Parmelee/NBC)

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Sheltered Outcasts’, Carisi goes undercover into a rehab group but quickly sees he might be out of his league. He is in a house filled with rapists and one of them is going around raping women in the neighborhood. Question will be if he will be able to find out who it is before he is made.

We see some familiar faces on this show. Gregory, a rapist who kidnapped a girl from Virtual Universe because he looked like a young girl he kidnapped years before. Stabler was able to bring him in for justice but it looks like he found a way out. Another face is not familiar with SVU but is famous. Michael Rapaport (The Heat) guest stars as Richie, another person at the shelter. Turns out that he is was a pawn for his lawyer to blame his crimes on.

On a serious note, Fin begins to wonder about his life with SVU. He sees that everyone else’s life is changing and wonders if he should change his too. Dodds looks like he is trying to figure out if he can stay with SVU or if his father will continue to interfere with his career.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×18 recap – Benson and Tucker try to clear their names

svu 17_18

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Unholiest Alliance’, the unit investigate a priest who is doing ‘God’s plan’ to nuns in the woods. Benson and Tucker have to deal with the fallout from happened in the last episode as Dodds struggles with being the boss. The unit try and take down the church that they failed to do in the last episode.

We continue the story from the last episode a few weeks ago. The unit is trying to take down the church that is responsible for raping and murdering people. Tucker and Benson are out of commission at the station but being the team player that Benson is, she helps Dodds with what to do as acting commander. With her help, they are able to get evidence against Father Eugene, but it gets complicated when the church throws them a curveball. He points the finger at them.

Father Eugene finds that he’s not going to get out of what he did. It isn’t until Carisi talks with him that gets him to open up and help the police take down the real criminal. The monsignor.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×17 recap – Benson gets help from Tucker to solve a sex trafficking ring

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT -- "Manhattan Transfer" Episode 1717 -- Pictured: (l-r) Andy Karl as Sgt. Mike Dodds, Robert John Burke as Capt. Ed Tucker -- (Photo by: Michael Parmelee/NBC)

In this week’s episode, titled ‘Manhattan Transfer’, Benson and Barba find themselves on opposite ends when a judge is a suspect in a sexual assault. There is not a lot of times that Benson and Barba are not on the same page, but this episode shows that there is a line between law and order and the world of gray that plays in between. Things get weird considering there is a nun, Nina, that is there claiming that she is trying to help the girls.

It’s looking like there isn’t anyone that is clean in the police anymore. This week, we take down a few cops plus a Brooklyn DA and a judge. It hits home for all of them and it’s getting to the point where they don’t know who to trust. With the fact that they have no hard proof and witnesses who are scared, they are going to need to get the physical evidence to put the cuffs on the cops. But how do you try and arrest someone when they know the way that you think? The way that you work?

Fun fact, Michael O’Keefe has made his third appearance on the show, of course playing different characters each time. He was the good guy in one episode, bad in the second. And it didn’t look good for his third. The show touches on a lot of things that we haven’t seen in a while. 1. A priest being shady. 2. Tucker showing that he actual has a human side. It’s his human side that might get Benson in trouble as she loses her unit and Dodds gets control of it.

The show is going to be off the air until March 23rd.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ 17×16 recap- Dodds chooses his loyalty

image

This week’s episode is something that SVU does a lot. They ripped it from the headlines and made it into a show. This show involves a celebrity who is accused of raping a popular vlogger. On the surface it’s not looking like an open and shut case but Dodds senior doesn’t want to go after someone he likes. He uses his power to do everything he can to help Bobby get away with it.

With cases like this it splits the unit. The boys back up the boys and the girls with the girls. Wanting to be right, Rollins does something crazy/stupid and puts herself in situation with Bobby so she can catch him in the act. Too bad Bobby’s got a lawyer and now they can’t use it in court. Barba’s going to have to rely on Kristy. Nothing bad going to happen there right?

During the trial, Kristy has a rough time on the stand as her inconsistencies are attacked. The trial always offers a problem for Barba as live victims always complicate trials. Everyone lies during an investigation and it always comes back to haunt them.

Rollins made a bold move to get the video and Rollins gets in trouble because somehow it gets leaked. More importantly Dodds junior shows his loyalty to Benson and SVU.

In the next episode, the Unit look into a sex ring that involves the order which leads to a conflict between Barba and Benson.
