‘Lawless’ by Teagan Kade will have you wanting more

Full Blurb

She’s never come before, and I never fail to satisfy.

I’m the brother-in-law who doesn’t play by the rules.

No one delivers between the sheets like I do.

I had it all once—a pro hockey contract, money, an endless line of women looking for that special kind of action only my big stick could provide.

Then I went and screwed everything up.

I let my brother walk away with the best thing in my life.

But he’s gone, and I’m back, ready to take what should have been mine from the start.

Wren’s pretty blue eyes and perfect curves beckon me, still make me iron hard.

She has no idea how bad I want her, how much I dream about her soft lips and tight body.

I know she’s ready for me—all of me, know only my big D can deliver the big O she’s been craving for so long.

Question is, do I go gentle, or do I go hard?

Get ready to meet Samuel Clearwater aka Preppy

Now that we have all read All the Rage by TM Frazier, it’s time to get ready for the next book. And it’s going to star everyone’s favorite man with a bow tie: Preppy Clearwater.  Fair warning to those of you who haven’t read all the way through All the Rage yet. If you haven’t then I would hold off reading on because I will have spoilers in this post.

With that said, let’s begin. We will start off with the cover for Preppy. Now, this is not the only good thing to get you through the day, but we also get the blurb for the book. And of course it wouldn’t be Preppy if he wasn’t fashioning one of his famous bowties.

Preppy part One full wrap JPG

We first met Preppy in King and he instantly became the person that we look to say what we are all thinking in every situation. Then he had to go and get himself killed….or so we thought. It turns out Bear’s father was more of a jerk-off than we thought he was as he kidnapped Preppy and held him in the same jail that he kept his mother in. And like King did at the end of Soulless, we all fell to our knees in relief/disbelief/love when Preppy comes out of the hole.

Here is the official blurb for his book:

Bowtie…’till I DIE.

Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f*ck.

He’s worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he’s always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he’s torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.

Andrea ‘Dre’ Capulet is strung out and tired.

Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she’s become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.

And their deaths.

For most people, death is the end of their story.

For Preppy and Dre, death was only the beginning.

preppy 2

preppy teaser 1The Life and Death of Samuel Clearwater Part 1 (best news because this means that there will be a part 2) will show that anyone can find love, even someone like Preppy who has become the mayor of Hell a few times. We get to see the female version of him as she gets off one addiction to get addicted to another one because fans of Frazierland know that Preppy is an addiction. And oh what a sweet addiction he is.

While it’s not necessary to read the other books that TM Frazier wrote, it’s HIGHLY recommended. He makes appearances in King and Lawless books which include insight to how Preppy ticks.

Review

We are there. Finally. The final book of the King duology. Fans of Frazierland have anxiously counted down the days since DecemBEAR until the release of Lawless in FeBEARy. And you will all be happy to know that it is better than what you expect.

There may be spoilers in this review just so be warned.

I came into this book waiting for the moment where Frazier makes us want to give up on reading because happiness will no longer exist. But our faith in the evil Ginger gets restored as she not only gives us that happy ending with a bowtie (yes it is a Preppy pun) but she has a few surprises up her sleeve that is going to have us want to find her in Florida and just kiss her feet. It is that good.

Now, there are quite a few questions that we were left with at the end of Lawless. They would be 1. Why was Jake involved with torturing Thia. 2. Who the heck ‘she’ is. 3. How is Bear’s mother still alive. Yes there may be other questions but I think we can all agree that those are the main questions.

All three questions will be answered but the first two don’t happen until later in the book. So just know that. I know that when I was reading it, I was like, ‘ok so does Thia not get kidnapped at all?’ I had thought the book was going to start off with her being kidnapped and Bear would come in all crazy mo-fo and save her. Frazier once again surprises us and shows that she can still get you second guessing yourself no matter how many times you read her books and think you know how her brain works. Because honestly, I don’t even think she knows how it works.

Bear and Thia really work well together and may even give King and Ray a run for their money for the cutest couple. They are literally the ying to the other one’s yang. Bear needs someone who is going to put him in his place. And Thia needs someone who can build her up and make her see just how beautiful she is from the inside out. It is bittersweet that this is the last time that we will see them but maybe someday in the future Frazier can reward her fans again with another story from these characters.

For negatives. There is maybe one little thing that I wished. I had wished that we would have gotten more of that dark drama that we had seen in Tyrant and The Dark Light of Day. What I like the most about Frazier is that she is able to push the boundaries and show us just how ugly the world can be. This book didn’t really have it. She mentions it a few times but we don’t actually live through it like we did with Ray and Abby. Thia’s ‘moment’ seemed a little rushed and underdone.

That one negative is certainly not enough to deter me from the book or the series. T.M. Frazier is that author that I will ‘one-click’ buy without reading the synopsis. She is able to create characters and stories that even though are probably nothing that we go through, we can still relate to it on some level. She relates to love and family and what really is important.

Book of the Week – ‘Soulless’ by TM Frazier

soulless

In the, hopefully, last book of the series that involves Bear and Thia. They will look to deal with the demons of both their pasts and see if their love can survive the Hell that they will have to go through.

Fans of the world rejoice! Frazier has shown mercy on her fans and only forced them to wait two months for the sequel to the mother of all cliffhangers. Lawless had the fans in an uproar on the Facebook group demanding to know answers. In this book not only will we find out who ‘she’ is, but we will get a resolution that hopefully leaves us happy. I.e. Bear and Thia end up together because anything less may lead to a bigger uproar.

A look back at the books that came out in 2015

books

While the end of the year might be a good thing for some people, it might be rough for the book readers of the world. There was too long of a list of books that came out this year and not enough days in the year to keep up. When looking back at the books that came out, it’s hard to pick just one favorite above the others as it’s like trying to pick your favorite kid.

So, don’t worry. I did it for you.

There might not be any mysteries that came out this year, mainly because some of the mysteries have been done so many times before it gets repetitive. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins probably had the highest sales amongst the older generation. They were able to get consumed with that world and the mystery. It was very much like Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn was a few years ago. We don’t have any of those books on this list.

The list below probably relates to the people probably around the age of thirty and younger. There is a mix of books in there that some may not like and some may not agree with. Opinions are important, especially with book reading. The point is that we all are able to read the books and let them into our lives. The books that mean the most to us are the ones that we can relate to in some way, and that’s why I chose these books for the top books of 2015. Below is the list of the top ten books that came out this year.

evil never dies

10. Evil Never Dies by T.R. Ragan

Out: 8/4

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24840347-evil-never-dies?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/review-evil-never-dies-by-tr-ragan-suspenseful-finale-as-lizzy-comes-to-terms-with-her-loss/

In the latest book of the series, Lizzie struggles with the loss of Jared and trying to be the role model. She submits to the darkness in her and finds that it might not be what she thought it would be, but it might be too late for her to turn back. The story touches on the struggle that we all must deal at some point in our lives when we lose loved ones and whether or not we would submit to the darkness within, or be able to rise above it.

fall with me

9. Fall With Me by Jennifer Armentrout

Out: 3/31

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20980781-fall-with-me?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/04/04/book-review-fall-with-me-by-jennifer-armentrout-story-of-not-letting-past-ghosts-control-the-future/

I admit, initially when reading this book, I didn’t think it was one of her better books, but after reading it a second time I wonder why I thought that way. I have loved every other book that Armentrout has written and I think that I had such high expectations for this book. When reading in between the lines, I see how beautiful the relationship between Reese and Roxy is and how pride is an ugly thing that can keep love from happening.

papper hearts cover

8. Paper Hearts by Claire Contreras

Out: 9/9

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25284952-paper-hearts?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/09/11/release-day-blitz-paper-hearts-by-claire-contreras/

Like the first book of the series, this story has a beautiful couple that you just want to hate because they are so cute. They were torn apart because of circumstances and once again pride shows its ugly head and keeps them apart. It’s not until they get older and wiser that they see that love is more important than one’s pride. I love every character that Contreras creates because they are real and can relate to anyone that reads the books. Hard feat to do for an author.

scorched

7. Scorched by Jennifer Armentrout

Out: 6/16

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18045624-scorched?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/09/20/review-scorched-by-jennifer-armentrout-a-heartbreaking-story-of-overcoming-one-of-lifes-hardest-things/

It’s these kinds of books that make me love Armentrout’s writing. While she may create characters that are similar and have their own bubbly lingo, she will throw in a deeply flawed character that we get to transform into that beautiful swan. This story touches on something that hit close to me and I couldn’t help but understand the story that much more. Alcohol is a problem for millions of people out there (whether it effects them directly or indirectly) and it hurts deeper sometimes than physical pain.

shadowhunter-academy-01

6. The Shadowhunter Academy series by Cassandra Clare

Out: around the 20th of every month

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=shadowhunter+academy

In the surprise series released by Cassandra Clare, we get to watch one of our favorite characters, Simon, as he tries to insert his life into the Shadowhunters. While he has some of his memories back, he doesn’t have the core ones. Like the ones that connect him with Clary and Isabelle. At times, he can be annoying with it (especially the first few novellas) but he finally comes to his senses towards the end. The best part of the series, though, is that we get to see the background stories for all these characters that we heard about and how they effected the Shadowhunter world. Especially for Valentine and how he came to power. A must read for anyone who is a fan of the series.

nowhere but here

5. Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry

Out: 5/26

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23492282-nowhere-but-here?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/06/09/book-review-nowhere-but-here-by-katie-mcgarry-story-of-living-life-to-the-fullest-and-to-face-your-fears/

She is not like many of the other authors on this list where she had multiple books that come out each year, but when she does release a book, it’s one that you get right away and then obsess over it. This book is the first book of the series and it’s a spin-off of sorts from her last series. She talks about the importance of living your own life and not letting your past dictate it for you. Like many of her other books, she is able to bring characters to life that we can relate to in some way and hope that things turn out well for them in the end.

confess

4. Confess by Colleen Hoover

Out: 3/10

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22609310-confess?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/04/06/review-confess-by-colleen-hoover-story-of-loss-love-and-how-amazing-fate-can-be/

When reading this book, I was not expecting to like it as much I did. I read the blurb and I was like ‘eh this sounds interesting enough to read’. But after reading it, I was obsessed. Especially after finding out that the confessions in the book are all real. Some of them are dark and sinister while others are funny and light. It’s those dark ones that make you see how ugly the world can be and how it’s something that should be recognized. I liked how Hoover was able to work that kind of theme into her story, without it being the center point for it.

king tyrant-cover

3. King/Tyrant by T.M. Frazier

Out: 6/15 and 8/16

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27918024-king-tyrant?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: Kinghttps://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/06/16/release-day-blitz-for-king-by-tm-frazier/

Tyrant – https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/08/18/tyrant-by-tm-frazier-release-day-blitz-and-review/

If you want to a read series and literally curse out the author from start to finish, then start reading this series. It dominates your life and doesn’t let go. If you join the Facebook group you will see that you are not the only one who suffers from King-itis. Frazier creates characters that we love but there are so many twists and turns that you never know what to expect. It’s the perfect book to read when you want to get worked up and get all crazed over.

say my name under my skin on my knees

2. Stark International series by J. Kenner

Out: 4/7, 6/23, 9/1

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/series/118761-stark-international-trilogy

Review: Say my Name https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/book-review-say-my-name-by-j-kenner-story-of-a-broken-woman-learning-to-trust-again/

On my Knees https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/06/23/book-review-on-my-knees-by-j-kenner-a-little-repetitive-but-sets-up-what-should-be-an-explosive-finale/

Under my Skinhttps://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/09/01/review-under-my-skin-by-j-kenner-jackson-and-sylvia-deal-with-the-ghosts-of-their-pasts/

It’s not very often where the sequel is better than the originally, but in this case, it is. Damien’s series is good in its own way, but I found that I liked the relationship between Sylvia and Jackson a whole lot more. They had more layers and I felt that we got to see more of a transformation for the characters throughout the series. Kenner had enough twists and turns that kept you coming back for more and demanding to know what happens next.

lawless

1. Lawless by T.M. Frazier

Out: 12/8

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25756072-lawless?from_search=true&search_version=service

Review: https://nerdysoul.wordpress.com/2015/12/10/lawless-by-t-m-frazier-book-tour/

There are really no words to describe how amazing this book is. While the King part of the series has its own dark secrets, this story never had gotten me so angry before. I never actively spent time in a discussion group talking about a book because it was THAT good. It made me want to hunt down Frazier and demand answers. It’s hard to make a book that creates such a reaction from the fans and the torture is waiting for the next installment to come out. COME ON FE-BEAR-Y!

What book did you like the most this year?

Thia is prim and proper.
Bear is leather and lawless.
It will never work between them.
It’s a lie they almost believe.

Review

Ever get on a new ride and wait anxiously as you prepare to go. You strap yourself in, leg going crazy (or whatever nervous tic you have) as the seconds tick by. The anticipation builds as you pray it’s going to be everything you want. The second it goes blasting off into oblivion you scream because the anticipation explodes.

That is what reading a book by TM Frazier is. A roller coaster ride. The best roller coaster ride you will ever go on. It starts off slow, enough for you to think that its not that bad, then it twists and turns, goes up and down, and sends you rolling in a new direction that you won’t know which side is up.

Bear is like King in so many ways, but is still his own person. He has enough scars (both physical and emotional) to last a thousand life times and he never thought he would feel alive again. That is until Thia enters back into his life.

Thia is her own kind of messed up. She is thrusted into the dark and twisted world with Bear and instead of running away screaming, she embraces it. Embraces Bear for all that he is, broken edges and all. As she gets to know Bear she sees that he’s not the same man she met but a whole new kind of monster. But as we learn from Disney princesses, every beast deserves its beauty.

We get to see the characters that we love from the past books and they are not the ones we left behind. King and Ray are as heart breaking beautiful as can be expected. You want to hate them because of how cute they are. Our dear friend Preppy is still hanging around always there to put his two cents in making me want more of him (like his own book).

This review comes with a warning. be prepared to have your mind blown. T.m. Frazier once again takes us on the best kind of roller coaster ride that puts the last three rides (aka books) in the dust. She is able to take the story to a whole new level with each book and as soon as you think you know what she’s going to do next, she throws a curveball your way, making you curse out her name because it’s so good. If you don’t like cliffhangers, you may want to wait until Souless comes out because that’s all I’m gonna be doing. Stalking her on social media, clinging to the updates, until the book comes out.
