There were two new movies that came out this week and they battled it out for the top spot, making Guardians fall down the list.
It is No Good Deeds that is able to come out on top with an estimated $24.5 million. This thriller shows Idris Elba in a new light as he’s the bad guy in the movie and was able to draw in people during a slow month at the box office.
Yet another sequel that shouldn’t be made, Dolphin Tale 2, premieres at the number two spot with an estimated $16.5 million. What helps this movie was the lack of family-oriented films at the box office since there hasn’t been one released since August.
Guardians of the Galaxy falls down the charts to number three with an estaitmed $8 million crossing the movie over the $300-million mark. The movie is the highest grossing film in 2014 and shouldn’t get an competition until Mockingjay pt 1 comes out in November.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Let’s be Cop round out the top five with an estimated $4.8 million and $4.3 million respectively. The last of the new movies to come out this week, The Drop, missed the top five with it’s estimated $4.2 million in it’s opening weekend.
This list is going to shuffle quite a bit over the next few weeks as there are a lot of quality movies coming out with a strong October just around the corner.
