The story follows a young couple that meet by chance and connect but because of their age they don’t want to do anything about it. Instead, they make a deal to meet once a year for the next five years, on November 9th, and spend the rest of the year becoming better people.

If it was possible to give this book more than 5 stars, this book would definitely get it. This book grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let you go even after the last words are read. Ben and Fallon are that adorably cute couple that you want to hate, but can’t because they are too cute.

What I loved the most was the irony of this book. At the beginning of the book, I like how the couple pokes fun at love stories and about how cliché it is, but then this book seems to follow down the same path as the cliché does. Also, I like how it references the stories that are similar to this one BUT then states how it’s different. It is like Hoover did this on purpose so that she can tell those readers the same thing.

I don’t know if there is anything that I would change about this book. While there are parts that I would change (because there is a quite a few) it’s more because I didn’t like how it hit me hard in the feels. Some books are able to just stroke the emotion and bring them to the surface, but this book doesn’t just hit you in the feels, it demolishes them. I don’t know how Hoover is able to get into the mind set of these characaters and how she can strike such strong emotions in them so that it makes them feel real. Yeah the whole only meeting once a year and them falling in love is a bit ridiculous, but the whole point of the book is the strongest part. It’s about embracing the day and living in the moment because they can be life changing.

Can we have a real life Benton Kressler? Please. He is the absolutely perfect kind of man that we need more of in this world. He is funny, caring, strong, romantic, sensitive, and a beautiful soul inside and out. He’s not afraid to put his heart on his sleeve (the writer in him) and while we all make like a book with an alpha male, it is nice to see that guys can be sensitive and caring just like he is.

I have read my fair share of Colleen Hoover books, not all of them but a good 80% of them, and this is by far my favorite book of hers. She is one of those authors that I find gets better and better with each new book that comes out. She is able to change her stories to fit the times and while there are times when it can be cliché, she is able to bring something new to the table that keeps you devastated but happy at the same time. If you haven’t read any of her books, you need to get on it because it will change your life.

Book of the Week – ‘November 9’ by Colleen Hoover

november 9

If you are a fan of Colleen Hoover then you know that this one is going to be a tear-jerker. She has a way of creating stories that just grab your heart, rip it out of your chest, play volleyball with it, before spiking it to the ground. And the best part is, you keep coming back for more. It’s the best kind of torture and I for one can’t wait to see the creative way she’s breaks us this time.

You can buy the book on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, iTunes.

Top 5 books coming out in November

unforgiven

#5 – Unforgiven by Lauren Kate

Out: 11/10

In another surprise book by an author, we return back to the Fallen series as we get to see Cam’s point of view as he tries to win back the affections to the only girl he’s ever love, but if he loses he will spend rest of eternity at a special spot in Hell with Lucifer. The whole race against time to make someone fall in love again is a very endearing and interesting topic. We know that Cam is not one to be all about the chocolates and roses so it’s going to be amazing to see a softer side of him.

angels twice descending

#4 – Angels Twice Descending by Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman

Out: 11/17

This is the final book of the series and we are going to see what happens to Simon as his training comes to a close. He has been through so much during his training and has learned a lot about the life that was taken from him. Now, he will face a whole mess of new problems and he will once and for all see if he has what it takes to be a Shadowhunter.

dangerous lies

#3- Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick

Out: 11/3

In the last book by Fitzpatrick, she stepped up to the plate and knocked a home run in the thriller department. She was able to grab a hold of you right from the beginning and not let you go until you get to the very end. It’s the best kind of page turner because you don’t know which way it’s going to go and this book is certainly going to be no different. We know right off that bat that there is a dark undertone as murder is going to be involved. Be prepared for a long night when this book comes out.

Untamed

#1 – Untamed by S.C. Stephens

Out: 11/3

In a surprise move, the author of the NY Times best-selling Thoughtless series announced that she was going to be a doing a novel for the fan favorite Griffin but as a sequel to the series. Some may be a little wary because Griffin is the stereotypical bad-boy rocker but if you’ve read any of the teasers that Stephens has released, you know that it’s going to be so much more. Griffin may have that rough exterior, but he has a soft spot for his girls and his band. You start to feel bad for him and wonder if maybe he gets a bad rap because of his personality. Hopefully we can see him get his moment in the sun.
