There is an expression that is about how strong a character somebody is after being knocked down. If that is the case with Ryker, then we are in for a store for the best come back story. Ryker has a lot to make up for in the league as he had let the fans and his teammates down when he lost the playoff game in the last book. He is able to do that considering he is the starting goalie for the year since their other goalie is out for the year.

Gray Brannon is making history with her job and she put all her eggs in Ryker’s basket. She built a team around him in hopes that he can help her get a championship as the first female GM in the league. Talk about a lot of pressure on one season?

The stakes are high, but that only them work harder, they want it more than anyone else but the budding feelings that they have for one another can complicate things for them. Or it can create some explosive love scenes. And that is exactly what we get with these two characters when they give into temptation and let themselves fall for one another. The only thing that I didn’t like about it is that there was no development for their relationship. They go 0 to 60 in two seconds and it’s hard to follow how they got there.

The best part of this book though is the ending. The climax is gripping and mysterious and you are not going to know what is going to happen next. There is a big build up throughout the book and you wonder what will happen and it’s explosive when it actually does.

For me, I didn’t enjoy the book as much as the first three, but I did like it overall. It has that alpha dominate male that we all love in love stories but it’s doesn’t have that ‘it’ quality that sets it apart from other books.
