‘A Love Called Simon’ by Sandi Lynn Excerpt Released

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

No more men.
No more rich men.

That was what I vowed when I left New York and moved to Seattle until I met Simon Young, CEO of Young International, one of the largest luxury hotel chains in the world. He desired me and I let him. I was fully aware of his love for women and his hatred for relationships but I decided to play his game. I had a void that needed to be fulfilled and Simon Young was the man who could do it. Entering into a physical relationship only was the plan. No strings and no emotions allowed. But plans are made to be changed and rules are meant to be broken. We grew closer and I was falling in love, but Simon had a secret. A secret that would destroy everything. He was about to lose me and I was willing to walk away.

As soon as we boarded the plane, I put my bag in the overhead above our first-class seats. It was heavy and overloaded with all the souvenirs and shopping we did in Vegas, or should I say that I did. Brendon, my boyfriend of six years, planned this little trip, which I thought was only going to be the two of us, but as usual, he invited a few of his friends to tag along. Friends that I couldn’t stand. Arrogant, self-absorbed, and womanizing rich boys.

“Thanks for your help.” I glared at Brendon as I took my seat next to him.

“It’s your shit. Not mine. You were the one who did all the shopping, so deal with it.”

“You’re an ass.”

“And you’re a bitch.”

I slowly shook my head and glanced over at the gentleman that was staring at me from across the aisle. For the love of God, he was hot. I gave him a friendly smile and then looked away. Brendon took out his iPad and began to check his emails just as the captain announced over the speakers that there was a slight delay in take-off. I sighed and reached in my purse to grab my Kindle.

“What?” Brendon asked.

“I thought I put my Kindle in my purse. I must have put it in my bag.” I sighed as I got up and reached for the overhead.

I looked at Brendon when I was having trouble reaching my bag and taking it down. “Can you please help me? You’re a lot taller than I am.”

“Fuck no. Like I said, it’s your shit, not mine. Just sit your ass down and watch a movie or something. For fuck’s sake, Gabby, you’re driving me nuts already,” he spewed as he put his beats on.

I flinched when I felt a light touch against the small of my back.

“Here; let me help you since your friend over there won’t,” a rugged voice spoke.

Review: ‘His Proposed Deal’ by Sandi Lynn – a predictable love story, but with a twist

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00073]

Format: e-book, paperback, audible

Format Read: audible

Series: Standalone

Rating: 18+ for language, sexual content

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=a+proposed+deal

In this story, we meet Max as he makes a deal with Emma that they pretend to be engaged so that he can get his trust fund. Sounds simple right? But things get complicated once feelings get involved.

Emma is moving to New York in hopes of following her dreams and she makes a deal with Max because she needs his money. Max doesn’t want to be married because of something he experienced as a kid but he wants his trust fund so that he can get out from his father’s thumb. On the surface, it would seem like an easy deal, but obviously feelings will get involved and it complicates the whole deal.

The story of a proposed ‘deal’ of pretending to be a couple so that one or the other can benefit has been done before, but this story has a little bit of a twist. The problem is that it doesn’t occur until about two thirds of the way into the book but once it happens, you won’t be able to stop until you get to the end.

I do like that after Emma and Max have a falling out, Emma just doesn’t take him back, but at the same time, I got frustrated with her because her reasoning was just crazy. I get that you don’t want to just take him back because he broke your heart, got it, but some of the decisions she made just seem too much.

As the story comes to an end, I am happy to say that it does have a happy ending, but it does take a little while to get there. There are going to be some sensitive subjects that may make your eyes tear up, so be prepared for that to happen towards the end of the book. There were a lot of questions that were left unanswered that I wish Lynn had a prologue included so that she could answer those questions. Especially since this is a stand-alone novel.

Rating: C+

New teaser from ‘The Seduction of Alex Parker’ by Sandi Lynn has Emerson getting some bad news

Never stay in one place too long. That was my motto. After the accident, at the age of eighteen, I left my home in California to travel the world, seeking out new and adventurous wonders like my twin sister and I had planned to do since we were kids. Eight years later, I was forced to return home, to the one place that held the most traumatic memories for me. My money was running out and my brother, Adam, refused to send me more until we sat down and had a talk about me settling down in one place. That was when I met billionaire Alex Parker — an arrogant, uptight control freak who thought I would actually listen to him. Boy, did he have another thing coming. My name is Emerson James and this is my story.

She was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. But she was mouthy and defiant, just like her brother warned me she was. She was a free spirit and very irresponsible with her life. Not my type at all. I only dated women of an upper class status — the ones who kept their mouths shut and were successful in their careers. I had everything life could offer and I was content. At least, I thought was, until Emerson James came into my life. She was getting ready to go off on another adventure and I was determined to get her to settle down in one place: California. My name is Alex Parker and this is my story.

I threw my phone down on the couch and paced around the room. I was going crazy here in Texas and I needed to leave ASAP. I had other places to go. He didn’t understand. He couldn’t understand. No matter how many times I tried to explain it, he didn’t want to hear it. Just because he was happy being cooped up in an office working a nine to five job didn’t mean shit.

The next morning, as I was drinking my coffee and dodging calls from Billy, my phone rang.  It was Adam.

“What?” I answered in a huff.

“Watch that tone of yours, little sister. Listen, I’ve been thinking that you need to come back to California for a while. We need to sit down and have a talk.”

“You mean you need to sit down and lecture me? And I don’t want to go back there.”

He sighed. “My job is relocating me to Tennessee for the next three months to try and save a company that’s going under. I’ve bought a plane ticket for you and you’re going to stay with a friend of mine. His name is Alex Parker.”

“Why can’t I stay at your place? If I decided to come back.”

“Because it’s being renovated while I’m gone and it will be unlivable.”

“So you want me to stay with a guy friend of yours? What brother does that to his sister? Tells her to move in with a total stranger?”

“Trust me. You have nothing to worry about with Alex. Besides, he owes me a favor and I called it in last night. Three months, Em, and then I’ll be back and we’re going to talk. But, within those three months, you are to figure out your damn life and decide where you’re going to plant yourself in this world and stay. Alex’s house is huge and he’s never home, so you’ll barely see him.”

Top 5 books coming out in August

#5 – Without You by Kelly Elliott
Out: August 19th
Goodreads Page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20646491-without-you?from_search=true

In the first book of this new series by Kelly Elliott we meet two new people who are going to meet and fall in love. Common story that we have seen before but Elliott has a way of writing about characters who have complex and fun personalities. We get to watch as they fall in love and this will certainly satisfy the romantic heart in all of us.

#4 – Collin by Sandi Lynn
Out: August 12th
Goodreads Page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20409769-collin?from_search=true

What was set out to be just a trilogy has now expanded into four books. This book is going to be a little more interesting considering it hasn’t really been done before. Instead of continuing the story of Connor and Ellery but moves on to their child. We get to see him as an adult getting ready to take over Black Industries from his dad and of course fall in love. It’s sweet to see the story continued because obviously we will get a look at how well Connor and Ellery are faring.

#3 – Ignited by J. Kenner
Out: August 26th
Goodreads Page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18760674-ignited?from_search=true

This series is quickly becoming a guilty pleasure for romance readers. Each book follows a new couple as they embark on a love affair and each book is completely different then the next. There is a lot of passion and lust in each of the stories and it makes for a good read (especially when on vacation at the beach). This book is no different then the other two. You will get wrapped up in the story and forget where you are.

#2 – Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Out: August 5th
Goodreads Page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17788401-ugly-love?from_search=true

This book has been one of the most anticipated books of the summer (including the #1 book) and it finally get’s it’s release. Colleen Hoover writes such complicated characters that we get the joy of watching the layers get pealed off as the story progresses. The early reviews of the book show that it’s going to be another heart breaker (as we know she is great at doing) but sometimes we just need a good cry to a great book.

#1 – Opposition by Jennifer Armentrout
Out: August 5th
Goodreads Page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13644055-opposition?from_search=true

In perhaps the most anticipated book of the summer (at least for Young Adult Fiction fans) is this final book in The Lux series. Katy and Daemon have to face the reality of what they revealed at the end of the 4th book while trying to keep each other alive. Expect a lot of action, drama, and twists and turns that you will not see coming. And of course we get to root for Katy and Daemon praying that they are able to make it to the end.

Book review – “Love in Between” by Sandi Lynn – a good story about moving on but abrupt ending took way from book

love in between

Format: ebook, paperback
Series: book 1 of Love in Between series
Rating: 18+ for language, sexual content
Genre: New Adult
Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17364677-love-in-between

In this book, we follow Lily and Luke as they meet and fall in love after experiencing a deep heartbreak in their past.

Lily found out on her wedding day that her fiancée had been sleeping with her sister and that her mother knew about it. Feeling betrayed by her whole family she swears off men all together but when she meets Luke, that swear goes right out the window.

Luke is in a deep denial in life as he lost his long term girlfriend in a car accident that he feels responsible for. He doesn’t think that he would ever find love again until Lily moves in next door and suddenly he feels alive again for the first time.

Luke and Lily have a lot of their own issues that they need to work through. No doubt that the biggest issue is trust for Lily as she was essentially betrayed by her whole family but Luke opens her eyes and makes her see that he’s not like her family and that he wouldn’t hurt her. Getting a chance to read about Luke and Lily letting love in and not letting it stop them is moving and makes you believe that there really might be a thing as fate.

The side characters were a nice addition to the story, even though it was a little too perfect. All of Luke’s friends were able to find a relationship with Lily’s two friends. While it does happen, it just seemed a little too perfect that it would happen that way. The way that Lynn explained was able to justify it but there were times when you were just like ‘well that worked out nicely’.

The ending is perhaps the only bad part of the book. There is a big incident that happens and then there is a quick resolution. There is no build no real ending. It’s so quickly resolved that you really can’t say it’s a cliffhanger because there really isn’t that moment that makes you want to read further. You’re just stuck there wondering if there was supposed to be more.

There is at least one more book in the series and it’s unclear what it’s going to be about as there is no blurb on Amazon or Goodreads. Perhaps we will get more of the story between Luke and Lily or maybe we will be able to follow one of the other couples in the story.
