#5 – The Knocked Up Plan by Lauren Blakely
Out: 6/23

There are three little words most guys don’t want to hear on the first date. Not those…I mean these… “knock me up.”

This single gal has had enough of the games, the BS and the endless chase. I know what I want most, and it’s not true love. It’s a bun in the oven, and I’m not afraid to hit up my sex-on-a-stick co-worker to do the job. Ryder is gorgeous, witty and wild — and he’s also a notorious commitment-phobe. That makes him the perfect candidate to make a deposit in the bank of me.

I won’t fall for him, he won’t fall for me, and there’s no way baby will make three.
Right?

****
There are four words every guy wants to hear on the first date — “your place or mine?”

When my hot-as-sin co-worker makes me a no-strings-attached offer that involves her place, my place, any place — as well as any position — I can’t refuse. Besides, I’ve got my own reasons to take her up on her deal even with her one BIG condition.

There’s no way I’ll want more from one woman than any position, any where, any night? Except . . . what if I do?

For a time.

Review: ‘Furious Rush’ by SC Stephens – modern day Romeo Juliet that takes place at the race track

furious rush

Format: e-book, paperback
Format read: e-book arc from Netgalley
Rating: 18+ sexual content, language
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26097165-furious-rush?from_search=true

Enter into the world of fast motorcycles, racing, feuding families, and forbidden love. In a modern day version of Romeo and Juliet, we follow Kenzie Cox, a female motorcyclist trying to make a name for herself outside her father’s shadow in a man’s game. Enter Hayden Hayes, the rival working for the family that she grew up hating. She knows that she should stay away from him but the connection that they have won’t sever, but instead gets stronger with each meeting.

Oh the tension between Hayden and Kenzie. It was so thick that you could feel it as if you were one of the characters. SC Stephens is no stranger to writing forbidden love between characters, having done successfully in the Thoughtless series. And like that book, we have to watch the two main characters try and deny their attraction, but we all know that it won’t happen.

Let’s take a minute and talk about her father. Ok, maybe more than a minute because this guy made me so mad that I wanted to throttle him. On the surface, you would think that he’s just being tough on his daughter because she chose a tough career and that she has to work twice as hard because everyone is going to be counting her out. But as we see more of their interactions, I felt so bad for Kenzie. She was saddled with trying to solve all of her father’s problems and he was so consumed with his life, that he didn’t care about how it was affecting her. Oh and the way that it ended with them?? OMG! I was so mad that I almost wanted to stop reading because I was fuming. As I was reading what he wanted, I used some choice words to describe him and was nervous about what Kenzie was going to do. Because like any child, she just wanted her father’s love and approval.

Back to the best part of the story. That is Kenzie and Hayden’s relationship. They are that couple that makes you believe that they really were made for one another. No matter how much they try to fight it, there is a connection there and they are willing to risk everything for one another. And that connection? Let me tell you, it’s just like them racing bikes. It goes from 0 to 100 in no time flat because that’s the world that they live in.

The ending made me nervous on so many levels. When I reached a certain point in the story, I needed to keep reading to find out what was going to happen because I was nervous that it wouldn’t end the way that I wanted it to. And when you think that it’s done, it’s not. There is a bit of a surprise at the end that made me wonder if there is going to be another book. It ended in a way where it could be a stand-alone but there is definitely room for a second book.

Me, I hope for the latter.

Book of the Week – ‘Furious Rush’ by SC Stephens

furious rush

Enter into a world with fast motorcycles, rival teams, and two people trying to make a name for themselves. Kenzie and Hayden are competing against each other, trying to prove that they have what it takes, but are thrusted into a feud that involves her father and his boss. Stuck in the middle of what they want, and making their sides happy, they are forced to make bold decisions and risk everything in the chance of falling in love.

If you have read the Thoughtless series by Stephens, then you know that she knows how to write angst that is going to have you angsting right alongside with them. Her stories have levels upon levels that it makes it look like an onion is leveled like an apple. The characters are challenged in ways that still exist today and you would be hard-pressed to not relate to at least one of the characters in the story.

Here is the synopsis:

For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she’s determined to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in this male-dominated sport. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Hayden, exceedingly arrogant and outrageously attractive, immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin and she can’t help but be distracted.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense – and strictly forbidden – attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can’t.

Fueled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren’t their only obstacles . . .

It ends with us

#2 – It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Out: 8/2

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up. She graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant and has a total soft spot for Lily; and the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his no dating rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all too human characters, “It Ends with Us” is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

Review – ‘Untamed’ by SC Stephens – Griffin takes center stage of this book

Untamed

Format: e-book, paperback

Format read: e-book

Series: book 4 of Thoughtless series

Rating: 18+ sexual content, language

Genre: New Adult/ Romance

Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24299682-untamed

We get a new book by NY Times best-selling author, SC Stephens as she brings us a book that dives into the world of Griffin Hancock. We had met him in the Thoughtless series as he is the bassist in the band with Kellan Kyle. Tired of living in his shadow and being held back, he makes a rash decision and quickly sees that he had the world in the palm of his hand. He desperately tries to get it all back, but did he burn a bridge that can’t get rebuilt?

Griffin was like his normal ole self that we came to know in the Thoughtless series but it’s taken up to another notch as we only get his point of view. There are times when he is as frustrating as he was in the first book, but there are moments that we see the layers of Griffin. That he is more than just sex and rock and roll. It’s those moments that I like him the best.

I did find that I liked Anna’s character more in this book. In the Thoughtless series, it felt like she was just a female version of Griffin and I couldn’t see any comparisons to Keira. I understand that they are two different people, but siblings are similar at times, but Anna and Keira were basically opposites. I like that in this book, we got to see that while she is definitely a lot more confident than Keira was, she still had insecurities too. I liked see that other side of her and above all I liked how she stood her ground with Griffin. That is what he needs. A woman with a strong back bone to keep him in line.

The book is definitely a lot more of the ‘romance’ part then the other three books. There were only touches of them in the series, but this one is filled with it, which should not be surprising considering its Griffin and Anna. If you blush easily at some romantic scenes, you may want to make sure that you are reading this in the privacy of your home because there are going to be some scenes that will have you blushing.

***At this point, there will be spoilers ahead, so you have been warned.***

I didn’t really care about how the book ended. It’s not that I don’t like that he got reconnected with the rest of the band, I just don’t like how it was done. A reality show where they pick the bassist? I just feel that may have been a bit farfetched, even for a book. I liked it better when they just had auditions and I had expected that would be where Griffin would reunite with the band. I get what she was trying to do with this, she wanted the rest of the band to see that Griffin is going to work hard and that he’s going to contribute, I just couldn’t get on board with the whole reality show thing.

Overall, it was a great addition to the series. We get to see Griffin break through his Peter Pan-syndrome and grow up to be the person that Anna and the D-bags needs. He learns that he needs to appreciate what he has because nothing in this world is guaranteed and we get to join in with him as he changes.

Book of the Week – ‘Untamed’ by SC Stephens

Untamed

In a surprise move, the author of the NY Times best-selling Thoughtless series announced that she was going to be a doing a novel for the fan favorite Griffin but as a sequel to the series. Some may be a little wary because Griffin is the stereotypical bad-boy rocker but if you’ve read any of the teasers that Stephens has released, you know that it’s going to be so much more. Griffin may have that rough exterior, but he has a soft spot for his girls and his band. You start to feel bad for him and wonder if maybe he gets a bad rap because of his personality. Hopefully we can see him get his moment in the sun.

Be ready to have your world rocked because Griffin is not going to stop until he gets his spot in the light.

The whole race against time to make someone fall in love again is a very endearing and interesting topic. We know that Cam is not one to be all about the chocolates and roses so it’s going to be amazing to see a softer side of him.

angels twice descending

#4 – Angels Twice Descending by Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman

Out: 11/17

This is the final book of the series and we are going to see what happens to Simon as his training comes to a close. He has been through so much during his training and has learned a lot about the life that was taken from him. Now, he will face a whole mess of new problems and he will once and for all see if he has what it takes to be a Shadowhunter.

dangerous lies

#3- Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick

Out: 11/3

In the last book by Fitzpatrick, she stepped up to the plate and knocked a home run in the thriller department. She was able to grab a hold of you right from the beginning and not let you go until you get to the very end. It’s the best kind of page turner because you don’t know which way it’s going to go and this book is certainly going to be no different. We know right off that bat that there is a dark undertone as murder is going to be involved. Be prepared for a long night when this book comes out.

november 9

#2- November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Out: 11/10

If you are a fan of Colleen Hoover then you know that this one is going to be a tear-jerker. She has a way of creating stories that just grab your heart, rip it out of your chest, play volleyball with it, before spiking it to the ground. And the best part is, you keep coming back for more. It’s the best kind of torture and I for one can’t wait to see the creative way she’s breaks us this time.
