Genre: Contemporary Romance
About The Bars Between Us:
I don’t have a damn thing in common with the beautiful rich girl who walks in to my bar. She’s southern class, fancy cars, and designer shoes.
I’ve got a drunk for a mother, a cheater for a father, and a reputation for trouble I’ve more than earned.
I look the other way, pretending I don’t notice how perfect she is. She wouldn’t give me the time of day anyway. Until she shatters that first impression and shows me she’s so much more––everything I never thought I deserved.
After a lifetime of being a disappointment, I want to prove to her that I’m better than my past.
We have one tragic thing in common, and the thread that binds us together will tear us apart as it unravels.
Are we strong enough to break through the Bars Between Us?
One of the hardest things that a child has to do is to grow up without parents. And that is what we have here. Both Bronn and Grace know what it’s like not to have parents and that bonds them because those scars run deep and changed the adults that they are. Bronn comes from the rough side of the tracks and Grace with a silver spoon in her mouth. On the surface they don’t have anything in common. What you get is an epic love story of how love can conquer all if you only have the courage to go after it.
There are times that you are going to be annoyed by Bronn. I know I was at times, but it was in a good way. Hear me out. I was annoyed because he kept saying to himself that he didn’t deserve Grace, that he wasn’t good enough for her, etc. He would fall victim to his own thoughts that it caused friction with his relationship with Grace. This is the part that annoyed me because I’m like ‘dude she loves you just let it go’. But coming from low self-esteem that is easier said then done.
Grace is not the typical person that comes from money. In fact, she comes from a pretty broken home, which goes to show you that the grass isn’t always greener. She comes from a place that tried to break her down and destroy the person that she is. So when she meets Bronn, she finally found someone that understands her. And really, that is all that we are looking for in life.
And the TWIST! Holy guacamole I didn’t see that one coming. I knew that there was more to the story then we knew, but I didn’t see that coming whatsoever. I love the fact that I wasn’t able to predict the twist of the story because for me it brought the book from ‘ok’ to ‘great’. Going through the story, I was enjoying the story but it was lacking something else. Well the twist was definitely that something else.
The story was great and addicting. When the story unfolds and the worlds between Grace and Bronn collide, you become enraptured by the characters and want to see how it all turns out.
