In  today’s world we are always looking for a good value. More bang for your dollar so to speak. That is what we get in this book. Roman is not only a story about the bad boy changing his ways for the love of a good woman, but also of a man who had given up on love until he meets the person that changes everything.

What I love about this series is the way that Bennett makes the characters feel like a family. It’s inevitable that when you spend so much time with people you will eventually feel that familiarity that comes with being in a family. Yes there are times when they butt heads (like in this one with Gray and Roman) but when it comes down to it, they are there for one another through thick and thin.

Much like the Hawke, the book is a little anticlimactic. There was this bit build up of something going to happen and when it didn’t it was a bit of a let down. Granted it didn’t take from the overall story, I was just disappointed that the ending didn’t have that ‘OMG’ moment that will have you cursing at the author. It was basically ‘your too good for me’ ‘oh I’m not, ok’. I wish there was more of an event then just a moment.

Sawyer Bennett can whip out of these books like no ones business and I am impressed with the high quality that makes you coming back for more. I have been hooked on her books since the first one. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.

Book of the week- ‘Max’ by Sawyer Bennett

The ice is a cold mistress. As the league’s most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he’s more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he’s just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who’s not blinded by his celebrity, he’s feeling the heat—and the pressure to save her from herself.

Between working two jobs and raising her sister’s kids, Julianne Bradley doesn’t have time for sports—or men. All she knows about Max is that he’s the sexiest customer to ever grace her gas-station counter. And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can’t have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he’s no prince—only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

Review: ‘Hawke’ by Sawyer Bennett – story about never giving up on love

hawke

Format: e-book, paperback
Format read: e-book

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Getting a second chance of love is not something that we think that we would ever get. After what happened between Vale and Hawke, neither one of them thought that they would get a second chance either, but fate has a way with messing with us in the worst possible way.

Fate finds Hawke and Vale together again both with the Cold Fury, which is quickly become the match maker team. It works its magic again as the couple, which had a major falling out come together and have to work through what happened to them years before to try and find some common ground. Being the alpha male that Hawke is, he’s not someone that can just let go of the past without making Vale suffer just a little bit. But as he learns what happened that night and since, he starts to let go of that anger and opens up to the possibility of a future.

Vale is like a lot of us when we find love, we don’t think that we are worthy of it so we do everything that we can to push it away. It takes a strong person to try and make them see that we are worthy of love if you just open up your heart to it. I like the alpha male that is Hawke and at times he is frustrating because he let’s his ego/pride make his decisions for him (as most of alpha men are like). I like that moment when he finally lets her in and way that they explode.

Unlike the other books in the series, this one doesn’t involve many of the other characters in the series and it feels in many ways like a stand-alone. There are times when he mentions them but for the most part it doesn’t feel like it’s part of a series. I like that in a sense but not completely. I like when a series actually reads like a series where I may not understand certain mentions or notes without having read the other books.

The book does drag a bit after the reunion as it feels like she stopped so that she could start setting up the climax and that was anticlimactic in the end. I would have liked a bigger ending especially considering how the last book ended. Hopefully we get that in the new book.

Review: ‘Garrett’ by Sawyer Bennett – he will melt your heart

garrett

Format: e-book, paperback
Format read: e-book
Series: book 1 of Cold Fury series
Rating: 18+ sexual content, language
Genre: Romance

In the second book of the series, we follow Alex’s best friend Garrett as he meets his match with Sutton’s cousin Olivia, but she is harboring a secret that is going to shake and rock Garrett’s world.

Holy hotness that is Garrett. I thought Alex was going to be my favorite, but that quickly went to the side after reading this book. Garrett is literally all that and a bag of chips. He has gone past swoon worthy and straight into book-boyfriend territory. He is beyond the cutest and sweetest thing to ever be written on pages, that you look at the man in your life and be like ‘why can’t you be like him?’

Olivia is that bold woman that we would all wish that we could be in life. Considering what she is going through, well, it makes sense that she would be bold and wanting to live life to the fullest. Right from the get-go you find out that she (slight spoiler here) has cancer and not one of those ones that you usually see in love stories. No, she has the kind that involves doing bone marrow treatment. Want to know how much that sucks? YouTube it and you will see just how much crap that cancer is.

Garrett and Olivia together those is beyond the cutest couple that you will read about. They are the couple that you hate watching but can’t help but love because they are just so perfect for one another. Like Alex, he is the player that changes his ways for the love of a good woman. He loves hockey but when he meets her, she becomes the center of his world and everything changes.

Sawyer Bennett doesn’t just focus on the main couple though. She is able to move the series along and get you ready for what’s about to come. I recommend since the books are already out to not do what I did and not read the synopsis of the next book because there is a bit of a spoiler there. The next story is set up and we get to see what happens next to these hockey players.

The series should only get hotter with the next book of the series and I can’t wait to see where Bennett takes us next.

Review: ‘Alex’ by Sawyer Bennett- hot love story that will melt the ice

In the first book of the series, we follow NHL superstar Alex, the star of the Cold Fury team, who is forced to try and clean up his image with the help of Sutton Pierce. While it’s supposed to be about the charity, it turns into something more, for both of them.

We follow a hockey team around as they fight with the urges of being a celebrity (such as money, alcohol, drugs, women) and it shows that not everyone falls into the cliché. Yes of course there are some of those, but not all the athletes are like that. Alex for his credit was like that but as the saying goes, he changed his ways for the love of a good woman. The only thing is though we don’t get to see that transition. He goes from one extreme to the other with really no push or shove on his part. If he really was the jerk that he was said to be, he would have been more reluctant to change. Especially since he was forced.

With that said, that did absolutely nothing to deter my feelings about Alex and this book. He becomes that swoon-worthy love interest that we all love to see in love stories and some of the things that he does, it’s hard not to go weak at the knees. He becomes extremely sweet and sensitive to Sutton and becomes a different man for her.

Sutton has been through a lot in her life, more than anyone really should and when she meets Alex she is all swooning over him and not because of his name or his money, but because of him. For Alex that is a breath of fresh air and for us we get to all live vicariously through her. She deals with the curveballs that life throws her better than a baseball player and she is the one that has to show Alex that there is more to life than just playing hockey and sleeping with woman. That if he wants to be happy, then he has to accept that he deserves it.

This is what Sawyer Bennett does best. She is able to create characters in a world that we can’t help but love. That is the case in this situation as we fall for Alex probably harder than Sutton. Be prepared because it’s only going to be harder and harder not to fall in love with these hockey players.
