Review
I have followed this series ever since it came out. I like to say I loved the series before it blew up. Jb Salsbury was one of those authors that made me adore indie authors and to search for more which led me to find some of my favorite books. This series included. I have read and listened to all these books multiple times and I fall in love with each character with each book.
Now on to the bitter end. Note that it’s ‘bitter’ because I am bitter that it’s ending not because the story is. In fact it’s a beautiful story that made me wonder if there is someone else in this series that I like more then Blake. And that is saying a lot.

Braeden didn’t want to fall for one woman like his brother did but that all goes out the window when he meets gymnast AJ. She enraptures not only his mind but his body and soul as well. He knows that his military life is a rough one to live with but like most alpha males who meet their woman, he can’t let her go.

AJ wants to make a life for herself by herself. In a lot of ways I can relate to her. She is stuck in her life and just wants to get to that end result. Braeden challenges everything that she wants and when he comes back to her a different man, she changes the woman that she is so that she can help Braeden become the man he needs to be.

There is another guy, because it wouldn’t be an epic love story without someone to try and ruin it, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. At first I thought he was gonna be the ‘big’ conflict for the story and that he was gonna be a bad guy, but he wasn’t. In fact he was very nice and sweet and I felt bad for him because he really didn’t have a shot.

There are some sensitive subjects in the story that involve war and how it can change the men and women who fight in it. This was something that she hadn’t done before and I loved what Salsbury did with it. She showed how brutal and cruel war can be and how it doesn’t end when the soldiers come home. This is a lesson we can still learn today.

While this story may be the last planned story for this series, Salsbury has completely ruled out the possibility of scenes/chapters being released. While it may not fully appease the full length fix we get, it can keep our addiction at bay.

JB Salabury releases four teasers for upcoming book ‘Split’

In her first book outside of The Fighting series, NY Times Best Selling author wrote a book called Split that is set to come out this November. Yesterday, she spent some time on Holiday Reads! Facebook page and released four teasers for the book and talked to fans about what they can expect.

In the four teasers, seen below, we get a sense that something is off with Lucas, but Shyann does not seem to mind it at all.

Here is what we can expect from the book:

After her career goes sour, Shyann abruptly finds herself jobless, penniless, and packing for her hometown – where memories of her late mother and a reunion with her distant father wait.

Lucas needs the quiet life. Demands it. And that’s exactly what he’s found in Payton, Arizona. For the first time in his life, he finally feels like he fits…and is starting to keep his mind in check. Lucas has suffered from blackouts since he was a child. He knows that he’s not like other guys.

The minute Lucas meets his boss’s strong-willed, sexy-as-sin daughter, her probing eyes and personal questions pick away at his barriers. Shyann is everything he wants – and everything he should never have. When the blackouts return, the last thing he wants is to expose how dangerous he can be…

Split is set to come out November 15. You can preorder your book on Amazon.

Review: ‘Fighting Fate’ by JB Salsbury – a book that follows two fated souls who try and find a way to be together

Fighting Fate

Blurb

Axelle’s broken.
I live to hold her together.

Killian McCreery only has two dreams . . .
Fight for the UFL.
And Axelle.

He’s watched her give her time and her body to men who don’t deserve to breathe her air. He’s waited, worked hard to become the kind of man she deserves, hoping one day, when the time is right, he’d get the opportunity to make her happy. After a painful anniversary, he finally gets his chance.

But life has a way of sucker-punching its victims–striking when they least expect it in the most devastating ways.

Killian loves me.
But I screwed up. Big time.

Axelle Daniels appears to be the typical college student–parties, hangovers, and men. No one knows that inside she’s a mess, and no amount of booze or meaningless relationships have managed to fill the cracks in her heart. But Killian knows. He’s been there since the night it all began and has never left her side.

When she wakes up one morning to find the consequences of her actions have caught up to her, even Killian’s white-knighthood can’t save her now.

Fate is put to the test when, for the first time in their five-year friendship, they no longer have each other to lean on. When he becomes a UFL superstar, she hardly recognizes the man he used to be. And she no longer needs him to hold her together.

With the foundation of their friendship gone, they’ll discover that even a love that is meant to be needs to be fought for and destiny is a choice.

Review

This book should have been called fighting frustration. Because that’s what it is. Frustrating. Now before you go and read too much into that. Let me explain. We have watched Killian’s and Axelle’s relationship from book 2 and waited for them to finally get together but we don’t get that until about 40ish% in. That is frustrating part 1. I wanted them together from page 1, but that just wouldn’t work. In order to appreciate them getting together, you needed to understand their friendship. You needed to watch how they interact as they are with other people. You need to see how their insecurities kept them apart. And you needed to see their passion ignite when they finally get together.

On the surface, you would think Axelle would be happy now that Blake adopted her and she finally had a family. We had seen glimpses of her being, let’s say a typically 16 year old brat, whining and doing what she wanted not caring about anyone else but herself. She still has glimmers of that for the first half of the book, and Killian tries to get her to see that she has a great life now, but her insecurities run deep. She was abandoned by 2 fathers and thinks Killian will do the same. She doesn’t think he will stay by her side and that he is only there know because he has a hero complex.

Killian does want to save her, but not in the way that she thinks. He was a nerdy kid that was going nowhere until he met Jonah in the first book. He wants to help her like he was helped but wants to be the man that she deserves. His insecurities of not being that man, kept him from telling her how he felt and made her think that he only saw her as a friend (even though we all could see how much he loved her).

Out of all the characters in the book, Axe is the one that I was able to relate to the most. She was stuck in the middle of two worlds, never believing that she belonged in either one. While she knew that Killian is there for her, she didn’t think that she could ever deserve him. We get to see her gain the confidence to not only believe that she is good enough for him but also to be good enough for her life.

Fans have already fallen in love with Killian throughout the other books and this book will deepen that love. There might be things that he does (or Axe does) that you may not like but it is all worth it. At first you may not like it but just hold on to the fact that they are a lot younger than the other fighters and are going to make those mistakes that the other guys may not make.

This is a bittersweet release. It is the cover for the final book in The Fighting Series. We will follow Killian and Axelle in this story. We have been undirectly following both of them since the second book when they first met and began their little love affair. We know that the night with her father is going to weigh heavily on their relationship and it’s going to be fun to see Blake’s interactions with Killian as he flirts with the line of dad to Axelle and the mentor to Killian.
